My 1070 is amazing don't know what you mean about driver issues.
that's the weird thing, I've been noticing only about half of the drivers are bad and half of em are good, there's people going "It's great this stuff rocks" and then others "why won't it work It won't work It won't even display stuff on my monitor"

just goes to show how unstable these drivers are, instead of having the same problems across all rigs, it's only showing certain problems on certain rigs, which is the weird part. And then as soon as people roll back their drivers everything goes back to normal

ehh it varies from person to person, I'm a sucker for the low poly aesthetic so the FE was a must for me.

Well, I'm glad you like it - I like low-poly as well, but there's something about it that throws me off. Weird!

you don't need an i7 for gaming. an i5 will do you just fine. only get an i7 if you're doing things like rendering or video editing/exporting workloads (or a lot of distributed computing projects like F@H or boinc).
Why would you want an i7 for gaming and school? Unless your school wants you to render stuff
yeah, i'll be rendering things for school

Get a newer generation GPU from either AMD or Nvidia.
how come? did the one i chose sucked?

apparently linustechtip's twitter got hit by poodlecorp

looks like their forum got taken down too, but their company site is still up (company site is on squarespace, i think they host their forum onsite)

bummer, I'm not an avid fan of linus, but he's pretty chill usually

Put bluntly, if you're getting an i7 6700k then you should be getting something better than a 960. I'd suggest going for an i7 6600 (non-K edition since you're unlikely to overclock it) and a GTX 980, 980Ti or 1070 for a more balanced system within the same general price range

would i still need a cpu cooler if i'm getting non-k? i don't mind paying the extra money but if its truly not needed then i don't want it

heres the updated list of my build

depends on how loud you want your computer to be

depends on how loud you want your computer to be

loudness doesn't affect me in any way

I'd suggest a Hyper 212 either way, since they're cheap and will prevent any possible thermal-throttling that may occur on hot days. Especially useful if you're rendering as well

yeah you can get aftermarket heatsinks without having to worry about noise

i've had it where the stock cooler is louder than the aftermarket one too
