Author Topic: Do you think internet friends count as "real" friends?  (Read 6115 times)

I'm a real person, therefore, I can be a real friend.
Internet is a real-life interaction. Cause the internet exists in real-life.
Brilliant argument here folks
No seriously it is.

absolutely.

it's still human interaction, and as far as i'm concerned, as long as you can communicate with a person by a means, you can befriend them by that means.

I've never met anyone on the internet that I consider more than an acquaintance

Sure, People I've talked to on the internet have stayed friends way longer then people who I've known in real life.
Almost like it's easier to find people with common interests or something.

This question is really just a conflict between old social norms and new-ish development,  the internet. There's nothing that says you have to personally see someone to be friends with them, it's just there was no other way in the past. I'm not discouraging face to face interaction, but sure, I definitely believe friends can come from the internet.

Almost like it's easier to find people with common interests or something.

That's a really good point actually. Explains a lot.

you want to meet up with people in real life to play blockland with them?

no, meet up with BL people

I've been saying this for quite a while. Which is also why I avoid the term "in real life," and similar ones.

About 99.9% of the Internet is better than 100% of friends IRL so yeah I suppose.
lol no. ^^ has no friends

what is that supposed to mean
You are the .1% of people on the internet who are worse than the people around him.

it's easier to find people with common interests or something.
also this

Depends. If they magically teleported across your street would you still hang out with them? If you said yes, then they will. If you don't like the enough or are scared that they might have lied, then no.

i don't see why they couldn't be counted as real friends
they're still real people, you just don't have face-to-face interaction with them
