Author Topic: Starbound Megathread - Version 1.3.2  (Read 901502 times)

Here's something new for you guys to be up in arms about.

http://playstarbound.com/starbound-coming-to-windows-10-and-xbox-one-via-game-preview/

Starbound is coming to Xbox One as a work-in-progress title (which you still pay for).
And when they (eventually...) get to version 1.0 they'll look at porting to other consoles too.

whatever happened to more or less finishing a game on one platform before the porting happens

it's like space engineers, oh boy

whatever happened to more or less finishing a game on one platform before the porting happens
cause dayz did it and they're obviously done with development

At least this screenshot is honest.
You get everything you see here! :cookieMonster:

To be honest I think I'm less annoyed by Starbound being ported to Xbox One in an unfinished state, than I am about there even being the means for unfinished early access to be on Xbox One.

I mean, you pay all that money for an Xbox One, plus Xbox Live and all the other bits to go with your Xbox, and instead of giving you a platter of nicely made and completed games for you to peruse and purchase, they provide you with a trough of experimental slop for you to dive in to, while paying what will surely be a sizable price for games that can't even be guaranteed to be completed.

I know this is the same complaint for early access games on the PC, but it just seems like the PC is at least a better medium for that than a console.
Afterall, it's not so frustrating on a PC when you've got a game that's going to be glitchy and your saves might be wiped with periodic updates because you can atleast tinker with the game and maybe use mods and things.
But on an Xbox I don't really see the reward in playing a game where your saves are likely to be wiped and you'll lose all progress regularly when you can't even play with third-party content or mod the game yourself.

why don't they finish the game before porting it to other platforms jesus christ

this has been a disappointment since day 1 and in december, this disaster will have been active for 2 years. what new (and actually desired) content have they added since then?

Once again, I deeply enjoy that Terraria is still a better game than this, lol.

terraria devs in 2011: this is truly the last update, we hope you enjoy it, we're gonna work on other projects!

terraria devs in 2015: well here it is 1.3, once again the content of a whole new game, free of charge, have fun kids!!

Exactly lol. If I weren't doing calculus right now, I'd be playing a 4 year old game and enjoying it even more than I did when I first bought it.

Starbound on the other hand, lol.

Terraria is spoiling the stuff out of me lol

But i still have hope for starbound. Something will have to give sooner or later.

I can't even get my $100 back that I pledged to the game back via refund
