frozen corpses in the ice

I feel the floors and walls should be the same color pallet. It looks like you're trying to make a shaded-looking ground but it doesn't match up with the walls.

Frozen corpses/skeletons in the wall is a good idea. Frozen bones too.
Torches wouldn't be too bad, being just jammed in without a sconce, or perhaps "ice torches", where it's a blue flame.

There should be a trap tile that causes icicles to fall down from above onto the player, with a nice shattering sound played before it falls as a slight warning.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I was drawing a big blank earlier but now ideas are flowing much easier.

Yeah the palette is going to change a lot, but I like the way the walls and tops look so far.

That is just as funny as I thought it'd be.

Itd be cool to see broken walls letting snow and ice spill onto the dungeon floor.

Made an ocarina item,

Now to add a million secrets that are only accessible with the ocarina.

That's amazing
of course theres many possibilities for how this will unlock secrets
like a wall filled with notes to play that would reveal a hidden room or item

is that a playable ocarina

holy forget yes

how play

How many notes can it play?  Just the five?

I could totally hook you up with some much better sounds than those flat, unmodified pulse waves.

Yeah for sure, I wanted to just make a fun item to use for playing ocarina of time songs on but it seems made for secrets.

I emulated how ocarina of time does it, 4 movement directions to match the < ^ > arrows on n64, and right bumper for the button note, the lower D.

The 5 from ocarina of time, though I may do some pitch shifting if the engine allows it just for fun.

Originally I just had the sounds from ocarina of time but I didn't want to use them in a public video so I switched it out quick. If you want to make some go for it, I'd love to hear what you make.

Eventually I was going to try and make them more flute/ocarina sounding but still based in a nes/amiga sound style.

Just threw these together in Famitracker

Pleasantly flute-like soft-attack NES notes.  5 wav files.

Bonus: Note sounds I put together for an in-game playable lute in an NES-style project I never finished.  I don't really have a use for them anymore but you might find one.
