Where are you guys running the game from?

originally the desktop, tried it from documents a second time but i'm having the same problem.

Does the base folder exist?

yes.

Also what operating system are you guys using?

windows 7.

specific problem: i set my name to FancyPants, keep the server name the same, set players to 1, and select Single Player. the first time i press Start Server, it freezes momentarily, and the music cuts off. after about five seconds the screen resumes, but i'm still looking at my server settings, and any times i press the Start Server button again, it simply does nothing. also, the console that opens up never actually displays text for me, not sure where fastlex got that information from.

You could probably find the prefs for each keybind and then append them to main.cs.

the game prompted me as to whether i wanted to let it connect through private and/or public networks, and this time i selected both instead of just private networks. it works now.
