that is indeed too bad, because it's a good game

though I don't know why you would only have such a seldomly supported operating system installed

edit: I can't words

it's funny because it's true, I think he's reaching fred da kiko levels of cynicism

wonder why he never came back

I sort of forgot. The game was... fine for an early alpha.
Your argument wouldn't sound aggressive if the art style didn't work with the gameplay, but it sort of does.

Every time I see somebody saying that the pixel art style is overdone, it always feels like every point they make is mainly nitpicking. Tell me, what's exactly bad about the style beyond being overused?

You can't say that it's the go-to thing for an effortless art style, because the graphics for this game look pretty crisp.
I just hate seeing it over and over again. It's basically the badge of an uninspired game nowadays for me. I know its sort of nitpicky, the graphics look fitting and there are no real problems with them, but its just a personal pet peeve of mine.

I found the teleporter and then died.

I found the teleporter and then died.

this is a common occurrence

unless you mean you literally just dropped dead when you found the teleporter, that's not common at all

it appears the Item Log doesn't save when you quit, that's a shame

The game makes me feel a little helpless. I can't jump very high or run very fast, and more enemies keep spawning. And the run and fight at the same time technique doesn't work because you never know where you are going and can end up at a dead end.

here's what I do:

- kill as many enemies as you can as early as you can, every bit of experience and gold helps
- use the terrain to your advantage, enemies that can't jump are easy prey if you find the right spot and basically give you free exp
- collect as many items as you possibly can, getting something like Infusion or Golden Gun early helps a lot
- learn the layout of the map, the locations of items may change but the terrain doesn't (yet)

If you get the right items, you can become an immortal badass.

This happened to me. I got the glasses that increased your critical chance (stacked about 9 times for 100% crit) and the one item that reduces cooldown on abilities for every crit you deal. Holy hell do you fire fast, especially the regular attack. Combine this with about every other passive item in the game (stacked a few times as well, for good luck) and you will wreck literally everything the game can throw at you.

I went through about 10 teleports before I got bored and quit.

I have been playing a little bit of this on and off, it's pretty neat. I have found that sitting around farming monsters is a bad idea in most cases. They constantly get harder so you really just want to get the items and run. Also miner is totally easy mode because you can simply charge X, C backwards and V up and over the enemies, wait a second and do it all again.

so I was looking at the source of this a bit

I've got to say that this has some awesome and really complex enemy/item/etc. spawning mechanisms

so I tried to play it
at least for me, the controls are so unresponsive, it's not even funny
have you ever encountered that phenomena when you press keys and the game goes like 'forget you' and controls itself for a while
the only other game I've encountered this on was that adventure mod for minecraft

controls are fine for me and I haven't heard anyone else having trouble either

it's still in alpha so it could very well be a bug of some sort, you could check the website to see if anyone else is having problems

I jumped into a horde of monsters and was instakilled :c

I tried it out, it's too frustrating to be fun.

this

it bored me quickly because enemies take quite a long while to kill but the problem is that there's quite a lot of enemies, and there's even flying ones and at a certain point this becomes really frustrating. i was just jumping around dodging jellyfish waiting for the teleporter to work and suddenly a giant jellyfish came and killed me. i couldn't even hope of attacking it because i was a miner.

enemies should be more balanced

In my opinion the controls are pretty "clumsy". Don't get me wrong, the controls have no delay what so ever but they have been located so strangely. It doesn't make you "learn" what the different inventory space hotkeys are.
