I believe I've spammed the page with enough photos, so I'll lay off until it is finished.

It's almost there...

Thoughts?

I personally like it a lot! i think that if you add more details in the terrain, i will like it more! :3

I personally think that I need glasses or change the contrast settings on my monitor, cause I can hardly see anything.
...
Yeah but no but kinda.
I think it looks very cool, especially that roof technique is quite unique (did you see all those Q's?!) The terrain also looks very good from what I can see. Those willows (they are willows, right?) look cool!  I'd like to see a brighter picture of that pond, because it is kinda hard to see what is going on there. The gloomy mood of the last two pictures really suits the build.

Well ye my screen is really dark so I can't see so much.. but it's a nice build.

I would like to see more variety in the terrain. Ditches and... cliffs (like the ones you can see on the Eole terrain).

Added cliff that looks nice, but if I add several ones, it'll not be realistic to what the build is supposed to be. I like the one that I made however.

Judging by how it looks in those pictures (Not the final product), what would you say if I applied with it? (Criticism, yes/no; the last pictures I posted are not the final product, but I was just wondering what else you found wrong.)
Unless what you stated is all that you found unappealing about the build.

Finish your app then we will see, its always hard to judge when the project isnt finished yet.

Here's the cliff and another overview (In the daytime)

The Secret Swamp

My goal with this application was to showcase a mastery of terrain and how I can adapt to different styles.

This build takes up roughly 18 64x baseplates, so it's much bigger than it looks in the photos.

Overview

Looking over the cliff

The cliff itself

The Swamp

Cottage Interior (Interior isn't my strongest ability, but I gave it my all.)

Newly planted willow tree

The pier and canoe

You may have noticed the terrain not coming to a defined end, but that was done on purpose, as it signifies that the terrain continues on. It wouldn't have looked right if I had added boundaries.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out, so I hope you guys enjoyed it.[/center]

I greatly like the app, evan. I hope you get in with it!

-snip-

cool, but i don't know why it's dark green~white~light green when it should be dark green~light green~white for the rind.

Who cares? when it's for Dobin!

In Response to evansapp:

i think it's super cool. The cottage is very appealing, the cliff is nice though maybe a little too boulder-y, and the terrain is wonderful, though i was expecting a little more variation. The willows are just what i imagined, though did you just dupe one design? i think more flora and fauna would greatly benefit this build. like honestly, a real swamp has trees growing out of the water, more moss, etc.

for instance, look at this

there's so much going on, and i know that's really tough but i think that just a little more biodiversity would make this build A+

the thing is, i don't really want to be that guy, but i'm not entirely sure what my decision is as of now. i'll wait to see what the other guys think.

Actually no, I made a couple of willow trees for this project.

I understand what you're trying to say with the biodiversity aspect of it, but that's nearly impossible (the picture) to actually create in a game like Blockland where you have so many limitations. Not saying that I couldn't add trees coming out of the water and such, but some things, like moss, leaves/debris on top of the water for example, don't look good in my opinion. (in this game)

Plus, I named it as I did because it's supposed to be a secluded area that is controlled in terms of growth (So that the trees wouldn't overshadow the other terrain), etc.

Hopefully that wouldn't be a big enough reason for you to say no to my application, as I did try to showcase my terrain and building skills. I guess I was attempting to show a variety of concepts with this build.

I kind of agree with Anti-Block. The swamp looks way too sterile. It would work as a human-made pond, but not as a swamp. Try to add some more diversity into the flora.  Some tall trees to add some variety? Maybe a couple of leaves on the water? Maybe some bushes over here? How about a little birds nest on this tree? Why not add a small 'gator family? Some flowers would look cool over here.... etc.
You get the idea. It doesnt have to look super realistic up close, but every bit of flora you include adds to the overall impression. If you want to "cheat", you could use Tophius' plant brick pack.
