This topic is really late, but I hesitated to make it for a while. Basically as some of you may know from a topic I made a while ago, my
roosterapoo dog got attacked by two huge untrained dogs while trying to go to the bathroom and was practically torn open. He fought back, but it didn't do much.
My sister and dad heard yelping and ran outside to yell the dogs away and found my dog. My dad immediately rushed my dog to the nearest vet which couldn't do anything but give him enough medicine to last until he got to a pet hospital. By then he was in shock and near death with punctured lungs, crushed ribs, a dislocated leg, and many other wounds.
The hospital took him in, bandaged him up, and put him in a pretty large crate. The vets said they were hoping he would be able to survive overnight, but the chances were pretty unlikely. Of course this topic would be pretty awkward if my dog didn't survive.
From there on it was kind of a waiting game to see if he held out through a couple emergency surgeries, about 4 or more vital surgeries, one of them involving them cutting off a part of his leg bone to get it back in the right place. Keep in mind my dog was 9 at the time, and though roosterapoos live pretty long, we were debating at first whether to put him down or not. We decided against it, and my dog went on to survive all of the surgeries and make a complete recovery.
The thing is it cost around
$10,000.
We sued the stuff out of the owners of the 2 dogs, and though we still haven't really gotten the money from them yet, we won in court. I kind of feel bad for their dogs because now they're just tied on a short rope outside all day, rather than a fence or electric fence or something.
Long story short, my dog survived against ridiculous odds and is now almost fully recovered.
Here's a picture of him I just now took with my stuffty webcam:
