Author Topic: league of legends is now officially recognized by the US government as a sport  (Read 10362 times)

Memorize it like a musician would, easy.
Good luck at that

Then get off your ignorant ass and do it.

Sure, you might be able to read the patterns, but the issue is in the skill, dexterity and stamina required to actually hit the notes and get a decent score.

That's, once again, not the point.  it's classified as a sport for getting a visa to live here.  I bet the same could be done with something like chess.
A big for osu! as well, as it's probably one of the most nationally diverse rhythm games out there.

don't even get me forgetin started on osu mother of god

lol @ saying league is dumb but defending osu

if we had a cage for weeaboos you guys would get locked in it just saying

"League of Legends isn't a real sport! It hardly requires any physical activity!"

neither does bowling

You grab a big ball and swing to roll it toward the pins until it either gets tired or you win with the most points. More physically demanding than say, sitting in a chair left and right clicking while pressing hotkeys.

You could call us weeaboos, and we could call you nerds.

In both situations, it's avoiding perfectly valid points, only to take jabs at the other side in an immature matter.

yes but you can EAT WHILE YOU PLAY IT

seriously though i hope Major League Gaming doesn't become a sport thing

I don't see gaming as form of sport and in my opinion anyone arguing that playing video games is sport has the same logic as saying pizza is a vegetable.

what's the big deal if it were to be a sport thing?
how would it affect you in any way?

okay, I'll give you that, but where is the competition in that?  You are both doing the same exact thing at the same time, there is no strategy other than 'don't forget up'.  It can't even be judged like traditional dance or music contests, as those rely on contestants playing a wide range of different music or different routines.

but no one plays it competitively.  Also, why would a player need to live here?  It's not a team game.

Ping Pong is a sport, not as physically demanding as bowling
I'm tired and I probably don't know what I'm saying

That's the same logic as saying there's no competition in LoL because the objective for both teams is to kill the other team. Are both competitors supposed to do something different? That wouldn't be very fair, would it?

And yes, the fact that many tournaments revolving around the game today exist should tell you that it can be judged, regardless of whether or not it's "traditional". If you're not going purely off of the highest score, you could perhaps have a "routine" competition; who can make the best "actual dancing" routine to whatever song they please. This kind of competition is common in Pump it Up.

Even then, there are plenty of gamemodes, too. Cooperative gamemodes, in fact, and as I linked in the video, game mechanics that can make any competition interesting and dynamic.

Also, why would a player need to live here?  It's not a team game.
There's a team-based gamemode, and a cooperative gamemode.

And if there were to be more interest in the game, the same as the amount of interest that LoL seems to have built up, giving the same treatment to osu! as was given to LoL would make sense.

but no one plays it competitively.
I honestly hope you're not being serious here.

It seems like you pretty much don't know what the hell you're talking about when it comes to osu!, or rhythm games in general.

Why do you say that? It's not like videogames are any less inane than football.
