People trying to increase the minimum wage

They should get rid of minimum wage.

That way, anyone can undercut anyone and get a job.  Child labor laws are stupid too.

mcdonald's workers in finland get on avarage 12 € an hour including evening, night and holiday bonuses that's $16/h
they get away with it in us because it's norm, they treat their employees like stuff and when they get enough they're thrown away and replaced

we do need those 'minimal wage' jobs to have people though. we cant just say "wow you should get a better job" cuz they do matter.
without them, who would do the dirtywork? we wouldn't have clothes, a PC and all that good stuff manufactured. as much as it may be a stuffty job, we cant just throw them out to the bin and say it sucks because its kinda needed.

china

iirc they could easily do this by increasing the prices of their foods by a dime each
or, maybe, it was only the price for one sandwich by a dime, and everything else could stay the same? idk for sure

this would make tons of money

They should get rid of minimum wage.

thats dumb

That's the most autistic idea ever.

Basically Anybody said it best.
living wage estimate for the us is almost twice the minimum wage, you have to work two jobs to live
you can't get a better job because the education is stuff and you cant go back to school because you can't afford it

It's too low if anything. The problem is in America as citizens we don't get good education with our taxes, we get terribly expensive healthcare and horrible public services. More money is needed for people to live happily. Other 1st world countries like Australia and NZ both have minimum wages of over 14 bucks. In other 1st world countries minimum wage is little but at least you get benefits from the government as a worker.

Minimum wage jobs aren't supposed to support you comfortably, let alone a family. There is a reason they are minimum wage jobs, they're unskilled labor jobs that require nothing special from its workers. They're entry-level jobs that aren't supposed to be your life goal, but a place to start. With your experience working at McDonalds you can apply for a job as a waiter at some local restaurant, where you'll make less than minimum wage but tips will put you at more than double minimum wage. With that experience you can either move up to a management position in a few years or switch jobs to a more upscale restaurant where your tips will be bigger and you'll make more profit. Education isn't the only path to success. Furthermore, the economical impact of minimum wage is bad. Jobs that aren't worth minimum wage aren't created, so people are expected to do two or more jobs from their one minimum wage job, and this shrinking of the entry-level job market makes it extremely hard to enter the workforce in this economy. Also, by buffering the wages of entry-level workers you're inflating the value of the dollar because there's more to go around. If workers can only afford to pay $12 for 6 rolls of toilet paper, that's the price it's going to be. If people have more money and can afford $14 for 6 rolls of toilet paper, life got no easier for them despite their "raise." Also, since the people who make those toilet paper rolls are now being paid double their previous wage, the price of the product goes up proportionately. The fact of the matter is that that's how a free market economy works and it's unfortunate for the people at the bottom but that's how life works.

More abortions would be less unwanted kids and less impovrished families.
I'm not joking when I say more abortions is the solution. (or well, a part of it)

It's really easy to say all that until you've carried a minimum wage job yourself. AND had to pay for rent/utilities etc.
Not saying you haven't.

Not really, it would only harm the people offering minimum wage

who would do the dirtywork? we wouldn't have clothes, a PC and all that good stuff manufactured.

The free market doesn't require it's lowest workers to earn 400x less than their ceos.

on the subject of abortion, when one costs up to half your monthly wage it might not be an option

I didn't say it wasn't hard. It is, but that's how life works. You have to work hard to get anywhere. Hard work will manifest itself in promotions, raises, and experience to apply to other jobs. Here's a steam chat I have with someone that's working at McDonalds for minimum wage, name censored to protect identity:
Anonymous: im about to make a really fat paycheck
Anonymous: i hit maximum hours last week
Anonymous: and im hitting max this week
Anonymous: so that stuff is going to be fat as forget
Anonymous: aint got no bills what should i get
Anonymous: ipad mini 2
Anonymous: surface pro 2
Anonymous: brick of weed
Anonymous: bottle of straight acid

Granted, he's not paying for his living expenses, and those are expensive, but he's the prime target for a minimum wage job: someone who has nobody else to support but himself and is young enough to get away with not having to pay much for living expenses. The problem comes in when people who have families saturate the entry-level job market then complain that they can't support their families. The issue isn't that the wage is too low, its that they are in the wrong section of the job market. Increasing minimum wage will not only hurt this even more by constricting the job market but cause harm to the economy while increasing the production costs of products. It's not a solution.
