It does. There are production costs and profit margins. As with anything, management gets paid more than the managed. The CEO, being at the top, has to make more than the vice presidents, who have to make more than their regional managers, who have to make more than local managers, who have to make more than grunt employees. It's called an economic ladder, and it's existed in every economy ever, even (unfortunately) socialist ones. Raising the minimum wage does nothing but raise the bottom rung on the ladder, making it more difficult to climb.
