sir dooble's posts are all essays
yes, but sir dooble is awesome

Explain it like im five for me here.

I'm not really into politics or economics at all. So excuse me if i sound pretty loving stupid, but why is it so hard to just tax the rich more and the poorer less? Unless we are already doing that? I dont know. So if this does happen, they'll be more of a tax raise for richer people than for poorer people. That doesn't sound so bad, right? unless theres something horrible that could happen that im missing.

on the subject of abortion, when one costs up to half your monthly wage it might not be an option
Birthcontrol, abstince.
Hell, personally I think abortions should be covered completly by health plans. Perhaps the person getting one could even get a tax deduction or something.

I have no idea how much they actually cost or if they're actually covered though.

I don't mind Trinick's posts because they contain sufficient backing to prove the point he's trying to make.

Sir Dooble just stretches his posts out to infinity when it could easily be summed up because it makes people think he's scholarly and it just becomes painful to read.

I've figured out that most of you are just channeling what your parents have told you.

Once you get a job and start having to pay for stuff yourself, then you'll understand why it's such a broken system.

The free market doesn't require it's lowest workers to earn 400x less than their ceos.
It does. There are production costs and profit margins. As with anything, management gets paid more than the managed. The CEO, being at the top, has to make more than the vice presidents, who have to make more than their regional managers, who have to make more than local managers, who have to make more than grunt employees. It's called an economic ladder, and it's existed in every economy ever, even (unfortunately) socialist ones. Raising the minimum wage does nothing but raise the bottom rung on the ladder, making it more difficult to climb.

is every single post you make a gigantic paragraph
It's hard to make a point in less than a paragraph, I try to make them more concise than essays.

It does.

It was only 20 times as much in 1970.
Did our economic system change since then?
Were we all socialists in 1990, when ceos only made 55x as much?

birthcontrol isn't perfect, and under half of american workforce is covered and fifth of those that are aren't covered for abortion

how come other first world countries manage higher minimum wages and better worker care etc

you dont live on 7.50 an hour nor do you need 8.75 millions a year to get by

China
Right, outsource more jobs to other countries. That'll fix the econemy!

You linked me to stock option charts. Do you even know what a stock option is? Low level workers aren't paid in company stock, they're paid in cash. Stock options are a benefit management receives. They're completely irrelevant to minimum wage.

Other first world countries don't have economies the size of America's, and you're not supposed to live on 7.50 an hour. The words entry-level mean something, it's supposed to be hard to live at the bottom level to give you a reason to move up.

Inflation is also pretty high, I can see why they want more money, but I don't think it can be done or it will raise taxes for everyone.

43% of Americans pay no federal taxes. It will only raise taxes for the wealthy.

Taxes are a different issue entirely.

If the tax code was re-written to be easier to understand, then more people would pay them.
Also a lot of people don't pay taxes because they make so little that they feel like they can't.

thats where most stuff is produced.

It's not that 43% of American households don't file for taxes- it's that 43% have all of their taxes (and in a lot of cases, even more) refunded to them.
