New and improved Dism Main Theme! Check it out!
Damn son! This style's a lot better
speaking of stylization, I thought it would be a good idea to change the sprites up a bit. It's not a total art switch like last time. This isn't a problem because it's only applying a filter

outlines or no outlines.
The sprites CAN look sort of less attractive with the black outlines, but of course those will be edited. I might get some better examples tomorrow but I'm just gonna go ahead and post the idea right now
The reason I've been thinking about this is because the current style is pretty much a cheap, pseudo-retro kind of thing. It's just a thing that's common with indie games today and only makes the retro pixel art style like an excuse because they don't have money. With the outlines, it matches the new music style a lot more, considering SNES games had sprites with black outlines, such as super mario 3. The current style looks way too pristine and perfect, and that's a bad thing precisely because it's pixel art. No matter how cool pixel art is, it was never perfect. Some things ended up looking ugly, out of concept, or just didn't look like anything at all. This is what we're aiming for with the new outlined style, but of course we don't want to make them look HIDEOUS.
If we would use the non-outlined style, the music and the graphics are gonna have a huge stylistic crash. This was why we aimed for modern music at first. Since the style wasn't based on a classic at all, then there's no reason for the music to. The only problem with THAT was that, the graphics were still pixel art, and even if a lot of games do it nowadays it's still very unfitting. But if we change the music drastically without changing the visual style not even a bit, it can be pretty bad.
But however, Electrk and Plastiware aren't coming to alike terms. Plastiware likes the black outlines, but Electrk doesn't. Which is why I've decided to make a poll where the users will decide which one's better. I don't want to make all the decisions myself so a poll based on everybody else's decisions.
I'm with Plastiware on this one, but count me out of this.
EDIT: Oh of course. Another reason for this stylization was that Dism's concept art style is obviously cartoony. These cartoon drawings have outlines. Pretty thick ones too. These outlines will obviously match the drawing style and not only will it fit more with the music, it'll fit more with the concept art style, therefore giving us a retro, old videogame vibe.
