make their animations more reflective of their gimmicks, I.e White densi extends his arms more to maintain balance in the air while black Densi looks like he's bracing himself for impact.

Very, very important video for you guys who are bogged down with one or more unfinished projects. Or for those of you just starting out. Or... well, anyone, really. It's about a principle revolving around the making of what's called a "minimum viable product". Basically, you start making the same and your idea, but only keep the bare minimum, as in, only all you truly need for the game to actually be playable. Add a menu, game over screen, and have a complete game. Since the game's already done, you can just throw in content all you want and stop whenever you're get bored, and still have a finished game.

Not a final solution for productivity, but a nice philosophy to work by, and it's helped me out a bit as well, to get games out of the prototype stage and more into the 'it's a loving game you can actually play' stage.

extra credits did an entire series on starting out in game development recently and that was one of the best videos in it imo

I agree.

extra credits does a lot of nice things if you guys haven't checked them out I'd recommend them 100/10

I get really jealous of Extra Credits which prevents me from watching their videos.

I hate it too, because they're damn loving smart.

Also, @F3d. Your games look pretty cool from a "just loving around in Gamemaker" standpoint. One problem; the second .gif is ripping up my Internet Bandwidth. Can't figure out why, but I'd appreciate it if you could make a smaller version.

"jealous"
lol wut
They're incredibly intelligent, they have a large audience and they speak about a lot of the things I wanted to speak about.

I like Extra Credits, but after Portnow's twitter rant about TB, I've been kinda taking a break from them.

I've tried making games before, but I've never gotten this far since I always end up abandoning the project early on. Here is my game so far. It's made from scratch in java.

There are some cooler levels later on (19 atm), but no new gimmicks or anything yet.
I swear I didn't copy the gimmick from you, zanaran lol.
