I just read this. You need to get over yourself, Bushido.

Personally, I found it rather flattering.

A compliment to you and a backhanded comment to the rest of the community as if the rating is 0 stars out of Bushido. Ha.

But I'm not currently working on anything. I guess I can post a cool screenshot of something my friend and I were working on a while back.

Those are homing missile smoke trails.
Omg your code is FAIL!!!

Can you prove him wrong? Because he sure seems correct.

i meant 'within the context of this topic', not 'in the gaming universe as a whole'. i dont think ive actually seen anyone put any other particle effects forward so its been weirding me the forget out that its such an underrepresented system so it genuinely surprised me that plastiware not only did something with particles in the first place but did its also actually pretty good

like it's not a 'i am better then all of you and now so is he' sliding scale sort of thing as much as it is just a boolean 'particles y/n' sort of thing. it's either 0 or 1 and if you're at 1 you're inherently better then the rest of the group because everyone else doesnt seem to be doing anything

but then plastiware is actually good at particles, so it's worth mentioning that he is in fact good at particles

if there are particle effects that ive missed anywhere then point them out to me because that stuff would be rough but that doesnt mean hes any less good at particles

It was the comment not on his ability being on par with yours but of the presumed inability of others that I found pretentious and annoying.

he's literally the first instance of particles ive seen in this thread that don't actually stem from me though

i am actually assuming inability on the greater community's part because everyone in the topic seems pretty new to game design and mostly seems to be talking theory and occasionally prototyping rough ideas so it is actually really possible that nobody knows how to do particle systems effectively, but here is plastiware with an effective particle system

if you're able to do particle effects then whoops dont take that stuff personally but i havent seen you make particle effects. i literally have no proof that you are able to do particle effects and theyre a hard thing to nail in an interesting way so its not like im going to hold it against you or anything

i can see how you could take that as pretentious but the message was supposed to be more 'oh, hey, that's a nice surprise' then 'good job, son. i am proud'

My point still stands, Bushido. Had you worded it that way I wouldn't have said anything. I don't post 95% of my work so I understand that you do not know what I am able to do or have done but it is besides the point.

Anyway, back to game design.

Working on a test field:

And short clips of the game music I've been doing:

Village

Bad Omen

Peaceful

?

as in like sprite particles

fog, smoke, sparks

i guess youre right those are also particles but theyre more there to denote stuff is happening then to be aesthetically appealing. theyre just boxes they dont really represent anything except smaller bits of a larger box

?
Well that only proved his original point of Plast's being the only other good ones, lol.
