I'm making a strategy game. Maybe.

On an entirely related note, anyone here work with Ruby a lot? I plan on making the vast majority of the game logic in Ruby, with only the base engine and rendering being done in C or C++. This is mainly for two reasons: one, I loving love Ruby, and two, it's much easier to create mods this way, since it's not a compiled language.

I've been working on a project...
But for lack of my post sounding a way too familiar to the point of being embarrassing,
I'll just leave this here.

All your blockland projects need to merge and form one whole, blockland 2.

All your blockland projects need to merge and form one whole, blockland 2.

with lootboxes

I honestly don't understand it.
I was talking with someone about creating a spiritual successor to Blockland, which I've been wanting to do for awhile now. The project would bring back maps and have updated building mechanics, along with better graphics, physics, a procedurally generated world (like Lego Worlds) and many new features. If enough people are interested I would like to finish it soon and get a playable demo released...

I officially accuse [ASF]Ghost of reading my thoughts, watching my dreams, and stealing my ideas.

I've been thinking about making a spiritual successor to blockland for years. I made models in blender back when i only had my crappy laptop, if you remember Pong Tycoon, it was my second year attempting that (I attempted to make it once a year for I believe 4 years before finally succeeding, did i ever release the singleplayer save? I somehow still loving have it, 3 computers and 4 harddrives later.)
I'm going to bring back maps, have improved graphics, physics, generated worlds, and new features.
I was going to make a thread and see what people thought and maybe get it out, only i was thinking some kind of closed beta released for playtesting.
and most interestingly, I'm also using Unity3D

When i found his post, i was kinda crushed, because i had, that very day, decided to start and was just modeling the test world.
And i don't want people to think that I'm just copying him, because i'm genuinely not, infact i sent him a friend request on steam followed him on twitter because i really think i should talk to him not only about my plans but maybe he can help me with some problems i'm having and i can help him with some of his in return.

All your blockland projects need to merge and form one whole, blockland 2.
I mean, there's a genuine possibility that that could happen, right now i'm at the same level with [ASF] as the rest of you, just someone who knows of him. But if he accepts my steam request when he's back from vacation, and we actually become friends, there are possible futures where we decide to merge our projects together, I mean, i suck at mapping, he rocks at mapping, and i did have the idea to ask him if i could add his flagship map to my game to have that "omg" factor. But idk, maybe he'll just ignore me.

If i actually advertise this and make an active topic about this is either up to [ASF] being totally cool and knowing i'm not just copycatting him, or enough people on the forums wanting me to be more open about it.

I will say this, it's early, i'm still figuring out key systems, getting basic things like chunkloading and the non-placeholder movement system working, but it is starting to really come together.

If enough people say they want me to start posting about it, i'll make a detailed forum topic in Games, and update hourly on twitter (when i'm working on the game, i am a gamer, too, and Warframe just released their biggest update ever so, my attention is split)

also,

with lootboxes

what kind of loot boxes? what would be in them do you think?  I kinda really like that ideadibs maybe a possible currency that people could charge to do something, idk what would be worth that, but a pitch is a pitch. If i do add a currency, i would either make it so you can NOT buy it with real world money, or if it is buyable, it would be cheap.

waru was just memeing bruh

Here a video update where I describe the planned premise of the GreatGame:

I'm really excited to make the game support modding by nature.  The game is written in C++ using Urho3D (which I highly recommend).

Maybe you should do less talking and start doing more. Just because you have competition does not mean you should give up. Make a topic, post screenshots, show us what you have, create interest and people will care.

Obviously people won't care if you talk about it in a sense that you were making something but ended up doing nothing or that someone took your idea or some nonsensical bullstuff. Just make moves, boy.
