are you guys nuts? this is like all those media player OS's but with games

I don't believe anyone has said that...

In fact almost everything relating to using it has pretty much been that they'd wait until it has a way to dual boot.

I'd use it on my laptop if it supported Intel gpu's.

so is this like a stuffty os that can only play goddamn steam games/software and is completely useless for everything else one would do with a computer

what's the point
Classic Zeblote, bashing on everything.

This is like a video game system OS, but downloadable and such.

why can't you run this in a vm?

I'm assuming because for right now it's pretty stuff. I'm sure you'll be able to at some later date.

I think SteamOS will be a great thing for people like me who own a mac and just want to play some games not available for my system.
(If there's more game support on SteamOS then Mac, which would be pointless if it wasn't so.)

I would buy a steambox to replace my xbox 360 in my living room.

You know what could've helped?
Not getting a Mac for games in the first place.

someone got their steambox :o
-snip-

I think if I got that, I'd even keep the box it came in, it looks pretty neat. I'd probably put some nice red/black felt in it and use it as a chest for games or something.

Might even go as far as to add some LEDs in it that turn on when you open it.

We have just updated the alchemist release with the alchemist_beta contents. All the changes which were only in alchemist_beta are now released to everyone. Existing SteamOS installs should update themselves automatically.

Notably, Intel and AMD graphics are now supported. (Optimus solutions are still unsupported however)
