Danna, a little sober now, looks at Xavier's plane get destroyed.

"Oh... oh no." Danna cries. "Not two..."

Technically, Xavier did not die directly because of Haythem, he died because Marko suggested they get out of the base.

Or because of the EMP or something.

In the hospital, doctors are happy to see that Haythem had a little brain activity... but really it happened right when Xavier went into the light.

Haythem, in his dark, dead dreams, cries after Xavier passes him.
"You don't have to go. They offer your soul to be reborn."

"I somehow know that, but I want to see my family and my relatives." Xavier continues to head toward the light. He holds his flight helmet under his right arm. "When you wake up, tell everyone to be cool with it. It was painless. 86th forever, Cartelia forever." Xavier then starts to recite Cartelia's Anthem as he walks toward the light.

Haythem begins to cry even harder. "I... I will."

Xavier goes into the light.

Flash Forward temporarily, a few hours.

"I think we should tell him, it was in his will anyway,"

"It is against regulations,"

"What do regulations matter anymore? We don't have a country. His squadron has lost so many that it has to be disbanded. The entire leadership section was KIA, KIFA, POW, or DOW, and were running out of officers,"

"What about the soul-survivor act?"

"What about it? The kid has no family anymore anyway, and it was in his will,"

"I'm just uncomfortable with it, sir, and it is a squadron of the 86th were talking about,"

"I've noticed that, but the kid is really second only to his brother in terms of kills, he's worthy,"

"It would make him the youngest in the 86th,"

"So be it, transfer him,"

"Yes sir"

Flash back to current time.

I'm thinking of joining this but can you guys suggest me some resources so I can study flight please?

I finally snap out of my trance and set the mig down, unusually calm for the situation. When I get to my parking spot, I sit in the plane with the engines off and battery still on, powering all the lights.

I did have a good resource from Miko but I deleted all of my PMs.

Danna wheels over to Marko's plane, tears still going down her eyes.
A note is placed on the ground where Marko would exit near: We have to do something for him.

She then goes back to the medic bay, holding tissues.

C'mon guys I don't want to have to get ahead of myself, Id like some time to pass before a new character starts.

How old is this brother?

5???

I hear the news over the radio.
"No. NO. NO. NOOOO. NNOOOOOOOOO!"
I get a little reckless and start trying to tear down bombers left and right. I take down three before a missile catches my plane. I pull the eject lever. The rockets from the seat tear me out of the plane, along with my copilot. We parachute safely to the ground, where I promptly start sobbing. Two now? TWO?! WHY?! I draw my sidearm and shoot every Nerverak crewman I see. Of course, I miss a hell of a lot out of anger, but, y'know... a lot still ended up dead.
"James, stay with me," I whisper. He draws his sidearm and follows me. We find cover.

I let my jaw drop in horror.

"Did... did Xavier really die?. Did we lose the first in our unit? Ever?"

I see Jacov shot down and I get angry too. I shoot down the rest of the bombers, as well as taking out any escort fighters who DARE go near the weather drones.

Blackwater responds on the radio about the weather drones. "The weather drones have almost completed their operation. All bombers are down. Re-kobalk his minimal damage. Cartelian is still alive. We could bounce back. We could win the war. Just give a few more minutes for the weather drones to complete their job, then we can go back to base. Estaloo, there's a new XO. You might want to meet her."

I let out tears of sadness, joy, and anger all at the same time.

I take out one last escort fighter before waiting for the weather drones to finish.

Wh-

I open the canopy and look up, letting the rain drip off my helmet. Marshalers try to get my attention.

(Approx. 1 hour later)

"Rory Jackson, your presence is requested in the office,"

My forgetface squadronmate slaps me on the back. "Whad the hell you do this time,"

I really hate the forgeter. The hallway is mostly empty, as it's about dinner time. I walked to the Base Commander's office. The secretary directs me to the Base Commander, who motions for me to come with him. He seems unusually stern now. Perhaps it is because my squadron had been disbanded.

"Sit down Lieutenant," he says, calmly.

There is a moment of silence, which doesn't help the growing feeling of anxiety.

"At, uhh, at about 1600 hours today, your brother, Xavier, crashed on landing," he said.

The anxiety redoubled its presence in my stomach.

"It is my deepest regret to inform you, that he has," the man took a breath, "passed on."

I was crushed, anxiety turned over to sadness. After everything Xavier had been keeping me alive after our parents died, he was the whole reason I joined the Airforce in the first place. I wanted to be just like him, in every way. He was even the reason some of my own squadron mates respected me, because he was in the 86th.

Now fate had stolen the life of my brother. The tears poured from my face. The commander handed me a box of tissues, but it made no difference.

"We, have also approved your transfer request to the 86th. It was in your brother's will. We will send you there, if you accept,"

I choked back some tears, just enough so I could speak.

"I do,"

The commander nodded.

"We've filled out as much of the paperwork as possible, to make it a bit easier. Also, you get to choose your own aircraft to fly," he said.

I chose the Mikoyan 1.44, same as Xavier.

"You will be sent there tonight, if you'd like. We know that you don't work we'll with your squadron mates, so it was decided that you can go tonight, if you like,"

"Yes, yes, I think I'll do that," I replied.

The commander gave me a note, stating when a supply transport would head for Darina. It left in four hours. I walked out of the office, angry, and depressed. I went to my bunk, collected my things, shook hands with my maintenance crew and the few squadron mates a liked, and waited for the aircraft to take off.

I found a picture, Xavier had been at my commission, to my surprise. It was a picture of us, together. It only made me feel worse. The music certainly didn't help, especially when it was stuck in my head since the commander had told me. I quietly begin reading the letter to me from Frank Estaloo, the squadron leader.

[OOC: The letter sent to Rory Jackson]

Dear Rory Jackson,

First of all, welcome to the 86th. This elite air squadron has some of the best pilots in Cartelian. You'll like the place. We have good people here. But, we expect the best from you. Again, this is where the best of the best reside. You have remarkable flying skill, and we think you'll be a perfect match. Your late brother also wanted you to be here in his will.

We are sorry for the loss of Xavier. He was a great man. He really was. He was a great comrade with exceptional flying skill, as well as having a heart of gold. He died honorably. I honestly wish he was still here. The rest of the squad does as well. Your brother has passed on the reins to you. Make it count.

Finally, we will give you the Mikoyan 1.44 Flatback you requested. Again, we feel your pain. Xavier was an honorable ace that should have died honorably in battle. However, he pushed on and tried even in his final moments.

Again, welcome to the 86th Elite Air Wing. We'll love to have you here.

Frank Estaloo
Company Commanding Officer
86th Elite Air Wing

Once the weather drones are done, I return to base, still gloom, despite the small yet large victory. Snapping out of it for a moment, I decide to meet the new XO. I then try to find her.
