Author Topic: Hosting public FTB-Direwolf server on syerjchep.org:14880 --- Syerjchep  (Read 14243 times)

Hell yeah!
That was when the website was at its peak.
Had over 100 members and a few hundred posts.
Rating system, save hosting, brick datablock maker, connection with my minecraft and blockland servers.
It was great. One day.
Web archives are fun.

Web archives are fun.
yeah, too bad i lost the account data
that was the whole reason i stopped hosting that website

i dont understand what its supposed to do when it says "hosts a website for you"

is it used to manage a website or host a website on your server?

In short, It's the program that manages connections and sends the webpages to clients.

It's a webserver.
I guess I don't understand what you don't understand.
Websites don't host themselves, if you wanted to host a website but didn't also wanted to control the pc you're hosting from, something like this is what you'd use.

now you can register and login accounts
someday the forum will be back like it once was
also i'm going to make pages that interact with my minecraft and blockland servers

Well I'm not great with design.
The practical part of html/css coding I could do, I've read a few tutorials and understand the syntax more or less.
It's just I'm not that creative/good when it comes to web design.
This is me as well

so uh
why exactly are you reinventing the wheel and why in a GUI

so uh

Because I want to have complete control over the server.
I'm probably going to have the same server work on other protocols as well, to communicate with Minecraft or Blockland, and possibly even host my own game I'm working on.

It also gives me the opportunity to write pages in C++ instead of php or lua, which is my preferred language.

As for the GUI, why not?
it's nice to be able to execute commands and stuff without having to load a page and see things without having to open a log file

Anyway, kinda surprised no one has registered yet, I mean a few years ago when I hosted a website I got people signing up as soon as I posted about it. By the time I lost the files for it I had like 60 individual users.

This is me as well
yup

i guess i could throw something together just to hold it over and get some attention
i'm going to have a hard time getting anyone to help before there's any actual content on the site

reminds me of the time i did this exact same thing but in python. have fun implementing websockets, especially in C++.
They are a real joy.

how are you able to logout/login without scripts

"As of the second of february 2013 the webserver is being rewritten."
heh

Fixed!

What do you mean? The server has a scripting language.

Well the main socketing is done already.
But if I wanted to make functions in lua that do it that'd be another story.
