Yes because we'd want a person who can barely take care of themselves take care of one of the largest superpowers in the world.
I think you're under the mistaken assumption that mentally ill people are vegetables strapped to wheelchairs.

Not all, but that was just an example.

Some people who are mentally ill could have the mental capacity to take care of a nation this large, but of course their mental illness could get in the way.

Mental illness isn't nearly as visible as you think it is. Also, the mental illnesses I'm referring to don't impair mental capacity in the way you're thinking of.

its a mixture of "why the forget does someone need a 30 round automatic gun" restrictions and mental health funding that needs to be put into place
republicans are just "shoot the crazies" which probably causes more loss of life then the above

you pretty much cant get autos already

also why should you care if i have fully operational howitzers in my garage if im not hurting anyone its the same argument used for gay marriage/drug legalization

and really there isn't that much reason to. Now they want to crack down on semi auto. They're just going after one right at a time. Its how it works

The only obvious solution is to give everybody a gun. When was the last time a mass shooting happened at a shooting range?

It's not the guns that choose to kill people, it's the people that choose to kill people. Nobody here (besides any jokers/trolls) disagrees about that. The real issue is one of people, not guns. You are not going to solve the issues of school attacks or crime by taking away guns. There will always be other methods for people to get and build their own functioning firearms.

Let me give an example:

People can go to home depot and buy various parts such as air compressors, springs and PVC pipe to assemble homemade pneumatic firearms capable of firing solid and deadly projectiles such as marbles, batteries, and even real bullets at speeds comparable to that of a gun. An example of such a weapon here.

Don't even get me started on how easy it is to make homemade bombs.

except gay marriage and drug legalization arent designed to kill

If you don't know how to put yourself on the other side of a controversial issue then you are not fit to argue about it.

The only obvious solution is to give everybody cheeseburgers. When was the last time a mass shooting happened at a Burger King?

ill just say that citizens have a right to own weapons

just not super duper machine rocket launcher nuke things.

this is probably the closest to the way i think of it

but at the same time i can see why there are regulations cause not just anyone should be able to go out and buy a gun. i'm thinking at the very least doing something like a background check

how about

why the forget would a civilian need an AR15

there you go
>thinking the only dangerous gun is the AR15

i honestly think if you don't know even simple things like this about guns you shouldn't have a say in weather or not a person should have them

I gotta agree. It's like letting a faith healer sit on a science education committee.
