I should have an update out tonight.
The heightmap and models are now serverside.

will there be a mac version
Can the linux or windows version run on it somehow?

read the op lol
they're the weed model from the blockland farming gamemode
Not sure if you read his question properly or not, but he wasn't asking what it was, he was asking why.

before he asked about trees and I corrected him
as for why, well, it's just one of the models I happened to have lying around

anyway, new update is out
the heightmap no longer comes with the zip, it's serverside
the actual objects that use models are serverside too, but the model files themselves (obj) still (And always will) come with the client

try it out

bump

i might make old opengl default

Well I'd have to dual boot. The only way for a simpleton like me to do that would be to buy Parallels, which I remember is $60.

New version out, fixed some bugs with the terrain.
Also made OLD OPENGL default.

Anyone wanna test with me?

doesn't work on linux :-'(

Did you do this by yourself? If so I am VERY impressed man. This looks really great.

Thanks a bunch!
Yeah, I've been making this from scratch, no engine or anything :)

You mean with Wine?
Sucks, but not exactly unexpected. Next time I'm home I'll make a Linux port on my Linux computer.

Also, I'm looking for help figuring out why it seems so many computers have troubles starting the program:
http://www.gamedev.net/topic/654894-opengl-program-doesnt-start-on-other-peoples-computers/

Posted new screenshots to this thread.
Also made a thread advertising it in the Gamedev forums.

Next thing to do might be create an accounts system. That or perhaps making emitters and lights serverside. Still trying to decide my next step.

Should be on the way to fixing the not starting errors.
This is kinda the priority right now.

I've fixed the game for people like Mr Queeba who could start up the program just to have it crash when it tried to load the shaders. Additionally there is now a water level.

So does the game really run without an engine? If so, how does it do that? I was under the assumption that every video game needs an engine in order to work. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what an engine is.

I am really looking forward to trying this sometime soon. From the screenshots I am seeing its reminding me of Pre-v21 Blockland a lot and I am just feeling so nostalgic about it.

...in fact, is it possible to eventually add a brick-building system kind of like Blocklands? Oh man, imagine it! That would be so awesome.

This game doesn't have an engine in the common sense of third party software or libraries.
Torque is an engine, Unity is an engine, Source is an engine etc.
I'm not using anything like that. Though if you want to be technical, you could say I developed my own engine.

Some earlier demos I had worked on did have building systems.
Though I would feel weird making a game designed to be like Blockland.
Would I be any better than Kalphiter?

Also, someone joined the game.
IDK who, but someone joined, spammed "testing", left, joined again, typed a random string of letters, then left again.
