i know i'll be mauled for saying this, but why is this game a "must buy" and that "you're loving stupid" for not buying it.

tell me one person who said that

well it's pretty good and imo the best game on the 3ds right now

however, i don't think smash 3ds is a must buy if you own a wii u and plan to get smash wii u for it. wii u version will without a doubt be superior

Besides new leaf obviously

I don't think it's worth it at all. I'm not a huge fan of the physics system of Brawl/SSB4 and there's nothing to do but unlock everything and play multiplayer really. If you have lots of friends or you go to conventions a lot, 3DS is definitely the most convenient multiplayer smash game though. Personally I would wait until the Wii U version, at least that will have more content, Gamecube controllers, and more modes.

why? because you can't exploit glitches you consider "skill"?

No need to get so defensive. It's just personal preference. If you want an explanation, it's because you fall much slower, run speed is lowered overall, quick movement is hindered, games last much longer, it was super unbalanced, tripping happens randomly, they removed L-cancelling (which isn't a glitch, but an intended feature) and the system inherently favors defensive play over aggressive play. The Brawl competitive meta could summarized as "poke and dash" - there was simply not much opportunity for exciting, fast competitive gameplay. Also the "glitches" you deride have added so much depth to the Melee/Project M meta - even the top players have not hit the skill ceiling, there is still much room for perfect execution of these glitches, or the discovery of new ways to use them. Besides, it's not like these glitches are super broken or whatever. Most of them are extremely situational tricks to improve your play, it's not like you could use one of these glitches to win immediately or something. They are inherently fair because anyone could take the time to learn them if they wished.

Why are you so quick to lash out?

Im p. bad at this but if anyone ever wants to play, PM me for my FC

he wasn't and didn't

nope

i don't actually play melee, but it's easy to see why people who do aren't ecstatic about brawl/4's physics. the game encourages defensive play in too many areas (slow dash reversal, multiple air dodges, low hitstun, etc). this cuts down on your options for approaching, making it more difficult to attack and slowing everything down

the devs were obviously more concerned about bridging the divide between levels of skill and catering to newcomers, as opposed to forming a more wholesome, option-rich competitive environment, where gaps in skill should always be obvious

i own sm4sh and love it to death, but i have absolutely no qualms with telling people i'd very much rather watch a melee match. even if you took away all the stuff you call "glitches", it's just that much better of a spectator sport

This statement is accusatory and rude. All it took was a statement of opinion to tick him off. He was absolutely lashing out.

also if you think any competent mac is going to just run in and get thrown off the edge repeatedly i think you should go to a higher level of play and say the same thing since anyone who knows what they're doing doesnt let themselves get baited into the same thing repeatedly
if your killed once in an even fight, and the other guy stands on the edge, then what can you do? if you use any b attack they can block and the recovery takes forever, meaning they can grab, you can't come in from the air for obvious reasons, smashing and dashing only works if they forget up, which is unlikely cus all they have to do is press one button. Literally the only thing you can do is attempt a grab, which is still a 50/50 chance of them blocking or getting there before they grab. I've never really liked macs grab tho, so I don't know how good it actually is

I really don't see anyway to stop from being forgeted if they do that

you kidding me? i use the defense as my offense in ways that i won't explain as they'd ruin my edge

approaching really isn't that hard

it's all mindgames from here on out

I'm not saying there's no offense in Smash 4. Smash 4 is definitely an improvement on Melee, it just doesn't match the speed/volatility of Melee.
