Holy stuff, I respect Jon even more now.

Ok real talk, the whole situation warrants respect from nobody. I suppose you could say it's respectable that jon stands up for his beliefs, but what beliefs are those? The belief to use contentious words and treat your fans like stuff? Come on now. Jon made a mistake, but instead of sucking up his pride, apologizing, and moving on with his life, he made an unnecessarily big deal out of it and lost a lot of respect from a lot of people in the process.

Please note I'm not 'defending' the other side here; the sjw's are just as crazy as ever, and exasperated an issue that really should have been a brief exchange between some guy and a fan.

And its not like this is about censorship and furthering the New World Order; 'handicapped' is a word recognized by most dictionaries as offensive, and its not surprising that some people are upset about about jontrons actions. There are a plethora of alternative words to describe something as stupid and asinine; why do we defend the one that causes the most controversy?

Regardless, this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. I like his videos and think he's a pretty alright guy, but why does he INSIST on defending his use of this particular word? He can be funny without it and its not like he's any less respectable for apologizing for a simple mistake.

He's protecting free speech, comedy, and not giving in to the mob mentality.
Hell even if he was in the wrong it'd be sad to see him give in, because tumblr should never have that much power.

Jon is loving hilarious, and i don't think there was any "right thing" to do in the situation. SJWs would have assraped him nonetheless.

He's not really funny at all imo.

let's agree to disagree.

Because he can say whatever the forget he wants, just like you and me. Consequences are inevitable, whether backlash or praise, and how you deal with them is always a good marker of what kind of person you are.

I respect Jon because he sees how ridiculous getting angry over a word is when there are infinitely more things to be angry about.

Nothing that I've seen of him has made me laugh.

I guess he's humorous but it's not like his stuff is comedy gold or anything.

omg ur 1 of them
yesssssssssssssss

but nah I just don't enjoy him to be blunt

AND IIIIIIIIEEEIIIIIIII HOLY stuff

WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOUUUUUUU OH GOD WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME

He's protecting free speech
"the right to free speech" doesn't mean what you think it means
it's in the constitution so that you can speak badly of your government and protest (peacefully) without being punished
it does not in any way mean that you can say whatever you want without other people thinking or saying that you shouldn't have said it

well they can't punish you for saying ANYTHING

people can think you shouldnt have said that all they want, it doesnt change anything

sure. but he's not "protecting free speech" because this situation has nothing to do with that

p.s. twitter could punish him. it's their website, so hypothetically if they didn't want him saying that stuff they could ban him from using it

I think it means that he isn't giving into social pressure censorship, and asserting the individual right to say what he wants to say regardless of consequence

Twitter doesn't give many forgets if you use the word handicapped

Twitter doesn't give many forgets if you use the word handicapped
But given that they felt that it was out of line they could bc Twitter is not a basic human right or government property.

To be honest if twitter thought the use of the word handicapped was out of line in that context, and took action against Jon for it, I'm pretty sure many people would leave it. this is such a loving dumb situation (oops accidentally disparaged the mute), people need to learn to look into things before going emotionally overboard
