Avalonian riders train to be more effective archers on horseback, now employing leather saddles instead of just blankets (no stirrups yet, that came in the AD period). It is soon discovered that mounted archery is most effective if shots are fired when the horse is just about to make another step, and so special emphasis is put on developing the skill to fire at such a time. Information is disseminated throughout the garrisons using the chain of command system, and takes little time.
Funds have been set aside to build roads in Avalonia, and construction begins. The first major effort is to construct roads to several major settlements nearby Nazgar, but also the town described below.
Iron discovered in the recently conquered area begins to replace bronze gear among Avalonia's higher ranking and more elite soldiers, including the entire garrison of Nazgar. Some engineering businessman has thought to mass produce iron arrowheads, and has begun selling them to the Avalonian army for a reasonable price. The area has attracted people from not only inside Avalonia, but the "barbarian" lands outside of Avalonia's control as well.
Research on increasing iron production (mines and smelting/forging) and usability (especially for weaponry) begins.
Avalonian trading vessels begin for form convoys and are given some protection by the not too large Avalonian navy (galleys equipped with rams) as they follow the Central Ocean's coast West to trade with any settlements and peoples they find. Glass and ceramic objects including beads and containers, grain, wool, leather, bronze items, and Avalonian Cesk are exchanged for precious metals, iron, foreign foods (especially those that can be grown/raised in Avalonia), iron items, and other miscellaneous objects. The people seem to be Germanic-ish, so communication has proven not to be overly difficult.
