it was all normal stuff for teenagers.
From what you've shared about your pain, I'm pretty sure your affliction isn't normal for teenagers. That sounded like a really lazy diagnosis.

Well, there's debate over whether or not EDS (the hypermobility side) is the same as Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, so it could be the former but so far doctors have considered it to be the latter. EDS is caused by weak collagen however whereas Hypermobility Syndrome is just taken as being hypermobile and it causing pain. But there is no test to actually distinguish between the two it seems.

Hypermobility Syndrome at the same time though can be a cause of EDS or Marfan Syndrome, or even brittle bone disease.
There are a lot of diseases in this area all with the same symptoms.
What complicates it even more is that most of those diseases are caused by various kinds of genetic forget-ups on chromosome 15, so they can't just make a blood test to specifically diagnose them.

Anyway I don't wanna derail carolcat's thread with my strange obsession w/ rare diseases.

You should still see a geneticist though since they might be able to nail down exactly what causes your joint hypermobility.

yeah probably, dunno how much more money my dad will sink into this though. my mom's all for trying to figure stuff out though.

i dunno i gues i've just been pretty unlucky in terms of life. born with my umbilical cord around my neck, left handed, got appendicitis in 1st grade, started getting white hair in 8th grade, and now joint problems. next up: cancer, probably

It doesn't matter what comes next. You were cursed from the moment you were landed with this;
left handed
Sorry, sinister one.

dont worry, that thing about left handed people dying sooner in general is just a myth

I was born left handed and my parents conditioned me to use my right hand. I'm a freak.
