The fact of the matter is, there's not enough information released about the product to make a judgment without allowing your preconceived judgments to impact your opinions. It's a natural thing to have opinions, but for forgets sake give Apple some credit for taking a dying utility that has a great deal of class, sophistication, and subtlety (I'm speaking generally about the watch) and bringing it to the 21st century. Sure they're not the first to do, but just like with the iPad...they're the first to do it right. That's crucial, they've designed and packaged it as not only a utility extension of the iphone (already deemed by masses of people as essential in every day life) but something necessary to get by. They're very good at that.
Buy their product or don't buy the product, whatever. Buy what suits you best. If you're trying to hack everything and gain total control, maybe iPhone isn't for use. Get some perspective on demographic appeal and learn to appreciate some goddamn sleek design. If you don't think like the design of it, awesome. Then it's on you to give some compelling reasoning for it, don't just spew stuff because you hate Apple in general.
I don't know why I just said all that, this is BLF and a huge portion of this forum is kids who hate Apple. I probably won't buy an Apple Watch, especially not in its first iteration, but I can definitely appreciate what Apple is doing with this product. It's just...cool. Cheers.
