Author Topic: Anagaea II – A New Age of Empires [1117 AD]  (Read 130695 times)

SWAT, I moreso meant dealing with this; if you don't moderate on it I'll just hope that REs cover it tomorrow.
The New Union proposes some political marriages.  Espul's Crown Prince with Graniaton's eldest princess, the Britonic States' unwed King with the Saxon League's eldest princess, and the middle daughter of one of Avalonia's oldest families with the middle son of Ormica's royal family.  All three nations are invited to become a part of the New Union at this point (SWAT, if you could moderate this, and remember that close ties have been nurtured for a while now, other marriages, trade, feasts, gifts &c.).

An Avalonian chemist develops a substance with military uses (not gunpowder); the discovery is kept low key, and it is implemented in various ways in the New Union's armed forces.  Almost simultaneously, Avalonian mathematicians teaching at the University of Nazgar develop the concept of the number zero.

Avalonia continues to allow missionaries to enter Calzone, and to strengthen Turtle Island despite Cassian aggression.  I'll have that Atensiaball you requested done tomorrow, probably.

Almost simultaneously, Avalonian mathematicians teaching at the University of Nazgar develop the concept of the number zero.
0 would probably be created by the Bequelans or Banshira.

can a mod please moderate pope's position on the manner k

sounds like your just upset that hes doing the same thing you were because you wouldn't stop

So I've probably got time to get around to actually posting here, can anybody fill me in on things that may have affected Conservatia so I can possibly address them?

Conservatia begins to add more funding to the five of the most respected candidates for the College of Cardinals, each by a thousand or so Enaru.

After years a massive temple in homage to the old emperors, heroes, and legends of old Aspidis and current Conservatia is completed, lined with several bronze statues standing at 30 feet tall, recognizing figures such as General Caiius, one of the generals who fought against Albiton for the freedom of Atenisia. Emperor Balbinus, who lived through the golden age of Aspidis, and was deceased shortly before it's downfall. Bishop Leone, one of the first to officially take up Christianity. And finally in the center, a golden statue at 40 feet tall of Emperor Georgius Leo the Pious, resting on a throne, with two spots at either side and still many spots for more statues to fill their places for the years to come.

Not much has happened to affect it.

Random Events No. 22

Estrand:  Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Ezbatan States:  Goods from foreign markets begin to trickle into the Ezbatan States, most notably large quantities of rice and other foods, causing a dramatic drop in prices that hurts Ezbatan farmers.  (ECN: 30%)

Atenisia:  Support for the war and involvement in Calzone throughout the Holy Nations, but most notably in Albiton, Sweisen, and Arcano, drops following a small but disastrous battle on the Calzonian Southern Frontier.  Albiton's forces completely withdraw and its navy prepares for another campaign in the Eastern Islands, and most other nations withdraw the majority of their troops, excepting Marivus which still fears trouble from Calzone's perceived instability (although things have quieted down quite a bit).  (NPC:  10%)

Avalonia:  Stability in the New Union is at unprecedented levels, causing general faith in the state and a drop in crime.  The New Union looks very good to its neighbors.  (POL:  80%)

Galaumia:  An earthquake strikes Chijidan, leaving thousands dead and many buildings in ruins, and many more dead in the surrounding area.  The city walls, being built well, have survived with some damage.  (POP:  20%)

Caprica:  Ajakstan, in an attempt to keep Caprica out of its war with Romicia, pledges to not attack Caprica if it is not attacked, and even offers an alliance.  Many Romicians flee their homeland to Caprica as Ajakstan marches on the capitol and elsewhere.   (NPC:  90%)

Hlaohamarr:  An increase in temperatures has caused food production to increase, making the population bump up.  (POP:  60%)

Auria:  Auria's economy begins to improve following a general attempt by local government to restore law and order and provide for defense.  People are still timid to invest and all that, but the economy is improving.  (ECN:  60%)

Espovon:  Albiton suddenly breaks off ties with Espovon.  It is believed that they may be planning another invasion.  (NPC:  20%)

Ru'sh Naal:  Several local states, including Wereu, Orshkal, Ashkaliya, Dolvanam, Gungixao, Ashibia, Xianxan, Siderland, and Mawahe have grouped together into a temporary alliance in response to the formation of the Empire or Ru'sh Naal to assert dominance and ensure that another Rustuffe-Orshkal War type event does not occur.  All trade is cut off, Atlantia is seized by the Oriental Crowns, and militaries are poised for invasion.  Tejina scales back its involvement with Ru'sh Naal to avoid entanglement.  (NPC:  0%  DOUBLE:  -50%)

Imperium Conservatium:  Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Ru'sh Naal forces are placed into defensive positions around the border wall to Wereu Oshkal and Ashkaliya, while the navy is mobilized in practice maneuvers off the Ru'sh Naal coast that they may be able to respond at the notice of any invading force. The Arm of Bao sets up defensive outposts near each major city, and training excercises are conducted.

Construction of the Pei Kai academy is halted temporarily.

Diplomats are sent to the neighboring states to assure them of Ru'sh Naal has no intention of military action but will not hesitate to defend itself if deemed necessary.

[Atlantia was already handed over to Atensia before/placed under self governance after the world expanded a while ago, so I assume what you mean is they arn't letting Rustuffe ships through for sale of goods? Please clarify?

I also find this freak out very strange, because I have been repeatedly reaching out for peaceful interaction to all those states listed, such requests being overlooked by moderators every time, and now this happens.
Oh well I guess thats why they are called "random"]

A large workshop in the capitol is burnt down after Kai alchemists reasearching a new material in the search of recreating the Elixir of Life, and the material spilled over into the fire heating it. Dispite sand, water, and blankets being applied to smother the flames, they continued to spread until the entire dwelling was consumed, as well as the eyebrows of the Kai working on the expirament.

Government workers begin to plan new houses and build them, as Albiyin Alisud members dig out bodies and bury them. Galaumia is placed in a state of mourning.

New Atensiaball as promised.

Atlantia still had/has significant Rustuffe/Baoist influence, at least in the eyes of the nations, so it was seized (I was unaware that it was handed over; still in effect).  The term empire can conjure up images of a king of kings type deal, resistance by these nations is partially a way of not recognizing imperial status.  If it weren't a -50 I'd call it temporary, but as it is it may last for a while.

Atenisia sends a diplomat to the capital of Conservatia to ask for much, MUCH more involvement in the war effort.

This would imply Conservatia taking up the title of the war leader from Marivus (whom held the title shortly after Albiton ollied out).

We cannot abandon Marivus in this war.

"yeah sure swat ill be happy to play the pope caring (or not) about the avalonian threat to Catholicism in the region.

I'm not moderating it because I have skin in this game, I shouldn't be trusted.  Also, thanks; I'm glad it got a laugh.

Conservatia calmly tells Atenisia to go forget itself and that it has been playing a large role in the war anyways with it having sent armies down there to deal with the mess that you decided to back out up. Conservatia doesn't want to hear anything about not participating enough in the war when Atenisia backed out because they realized they can't handle the mess they're making in the Southern Bickering. Conservatia will continue to send down the armies every few years that it has, because it is not some sort of warehouse that pumps out soldiers constantly, and rather has to worry about its own troubles as well. Conservatia will only send more if Marivus themselves are to ask, not a hypocrite, and if 70% of assets gained from and put into the war go solely to Conservatia for compensation for the losses they will take.

Atenisia never backed out. We are only trying to be reasonable with you but you are putting the middle finger up at us without hearing us out.

Being in the Holy Nations requires participation, usually with the amount of resources one can apply to a war effort. I know you are pumping as much as you can, but you don't have an attitude that backs it up.
Albiton and the others made a bad example, but you don't have to be a richard and follow them. It is also against the basic fundamentals of an ALLIANCE to demand a certain share. You help an alliance out because you are part of that alliance. Most of the land gained goes to the alliance and/or papal states, which we all decide what we do with it (raze, vassalize, release w/ new government, ect.).

In short, stop being an hateful jerk. You are a POWER in this region.
Act like one.

Wau Lis'ei-Kim Kai with a heavy heart decrees the necessity of the acquisition of the lands between the Titchwahk province and the Daijoua province in order to secure the safety of his people during this time of heightened alarm.

The natives in the region will be given full rights as Rustuffe citizens should they choose to stay in the land, and this includes the delivery of food rations and other supplies as requested per tribe, with each tribal chief being given the opportunity to be the elected official for their tribe-ship.

Refusal of this deal results in the necessary forceful ejection of the populace, in as non-violent a method as reasonably possible (given we don't want the troops getting too banged up in case they are needed else where).

Ru'sh Naal states it must withdraw its military protection of the state of Teijina due to the potential necessitation of the forces defending the Rustuffe homeland. Given that Teijina has made it apparent it is somehow dangerous to support Ru'sh Naal in this time of need, Ru'sh Naal figures Teijina would feel even more comfortable without any affiliation with their Rustuffe brothers.

[edit] And Mahowaeae, which was also under Rustuffe Naval protection up to this point, being one of the instagators of this event, is also to have it's protectorate status revoked.

Conservatia completely disagrees, and also points out that as a power, and one of the largest powers in the alliance at the moment, it has responsibilities. Conservatia has to make sure that it is stable, and that its own defense and the defense of the papacy comes first. If it believes that it something is not within its interests, it will act accordingly. Conservatia, for one, thinks the war is completely pointless and that their efforts would be better spent elsewhere, such as albitons movements to begin a island hopping campaign. Conservatia sees no point in hearing out Atenisia because it simply regurgitates and spouts the same thing back at them with differentiated wording and insists that it's correct. Conservatia also points out that the only reason it is within this alliance is because they both are followers of the one god. Conservatia doesn't need to change it's attitude, it's attitude is warranted- it would not be the first time it has to clean up someone else's mess. Compensation is literately required or else they will take too many losses and civil unrest will break out, or worse, the barbaric heathens to the west will come marching back and divide the southern counties into states once more.

Conservatia has done more than enough of its part, do yours for once.
