Shirt, pants, shoes.
Shorts/Pants that cover your  ass and crotch and go down to your knees/ankles. Shirt that covers your front and back and goes down to your belt line or over it.

What ever won't get you a cold this time of year.
Some people's codes are malleable enough to allow shorts at all times during the year, doesn't mean people don't switch to jackets and long pants when the weather gets cold.

School Uniform (Normal uniform, not PE as that's an entirely separate uniform) at my old High School:

Boys:
  • Shaved face, "respectable" hair
  • Short-Sleeved custom Gilroy shirt during Summer, Long-Sleeved custom Gilroy shirt during Winter (Blue for Juniors, Whites for Seniors)
  • Blazer during Winter
  • Gilroy tie during Winter
  • Black belt
  • Grey slacks (long grey pants at all times of the year)
  • Black socks
  • Black polished shoes

Girls (as far as I remember):
  • No nail polish or any makeup at all
  • No jewellery
  • Sleepers for ears
  • Hair short/tied up
  • Short-Sleeved custom Gilroy shirt during Summer, Long-Sleeved custom Gilroy shirt during Winter (Blue for Juniors, Whites for Seniors)
  • Blazer during Winter
  • Long gilroy skirt
  • Black socks
  • Black polished shoes

Almost 75% of all detentions at the College were uniform-related. They cared more about how people looked than how they were learning.

Wait what does "respectable" hair mean?

Gonna need you to specify that because I, someone with a functioning sense of public norms, do not know what a "respectable" beard could possibly look like.

God that sucks. Principals are like mini Riddlers

None of us knew except for when we got a detention for it.

It seemed to mean:

  • No facial hair
  • Keep hair short, brushed, "neat" and washed
  • Keep hair out of your face (aka trim your fringe)
  • No hair colour, no hair accessories
  • Do not shave hair completely off or shave the sides of your hair off
  • Especially no afros

Those I know because I remember people getting detentions (some got suspended) over them.

You had it rough.
Not really. Our college, believe it or not, was actually one of the most relaxed on the uniform laws. If you went to any of the top-tier high schools such as Sydney Grammar, they were supposedly like loving drill sergeants about that stuff.

I don't know a single Australian school (aside from tertiary Universities and Colleges) that doesn't have a uniform, and almost all of them are pointless.

Well a person does not have a right to attend a Public or private school. Therefore nuts to their opinion on uniforms.
You can opt out for alternative education then.

I have an issue with the beggars deciding how my tax mone. Is to be spent or not spent. Become a loving chooser if you think you need to share your thoughts.

In Australia, education is mandatory (and I'm not sure how many people are getting homeschooled here, but I imagine the numbers are extremely low), and I believe there are significant legal implications for those who attempt to skip by it.

Considering each kid is paying an average of $400 a term in Primary School and $1200 a term in High School, it's not hard to see why the Government would want every kid to go to school. Imagine all that juicy tax.
