I remember seeing a lot of news about Vancouver when there were riots, I'm pretty sure all I saw on the news was it being condemned. I saw pumpkin fest in the news too and it was also condemned. But as far as rioting goes that was some pusillanimous individual stuff. Also all of these riots you mentioned haven't gone on for as long as Ferguson so obviously news coverage is different.

The rioting in the first round of Ferguson died down after maybe a week at most.
The protests did go on for a long while, though.
