I level out, and I take note of my speed. I hit the afterburners and go after Jensen via cannonfire, no less.

He seems to be more than capable of outrunning you, but you land a few good hits nonetheless.

Bell pulls into an evasive banking manuever and deploys flares.

The missiles dive for the flares.

I yank on the ejection handle. I am unsure what is going on below me.

Thankfully, you are not murdered on the way down.

I lock up Paladius at range and fire two RGM's at him. I track him carefully.

He drops a cloud of chaff and vectors towards you.

I try to get on Jensen's tail, firing off two AAMs and one HSM, and hitting him as much as I can with the cannon.

He begins ducking, weaving, and dropping countermeasures trying to avoid the missiles and gunfire.

Yamato manages to gun down the last mook.

Paladius approaches. I slam the afterburners and fire another RGM at him.  We're pointing at each other. My finger slides toward the gun.

I realize he is probably going to gun at me too, and I begin weaving gently to harass his gun solutions.

I climb defensively, so that Jensen can't get guns on me without me getting guns on him first.

are we over an ocean? i went back to the mission briefing and it says something about an attack on the carrier, but knowing ABS FIESTA world it could mean something that ISN'T an aircraft carrier.

Jensen dumps flares and pulls a tight half-loop, winding up above you and heading in the opposite direction. However, in doing so, he runs afoul of some of your gunfire.

Paladius approaches. I slam the afterburners and fire another RGM at him.  We're pointing at each other. My finger slides toward the gun.
I realize he is probably going to gun at me too, and I begin weaving gently to harass his gun solutions.

While you slide your finger towards the gun, he squeezes the trigger, loosing a pair of AAMs and a PPC shot. Your plane is struck by a shaft of lightning that flash-melts a hole into the fuselage and shocks you in the roosterpit. In your convulsions, you grip the trigger and lob a cannon shell in his direction, but it is a miss. He drops chaff and pulls straight up.

I climb defensively, so that Jensen can't get guns on me without me getting guns on him first.

He is busy attempting to climb away from the three people chasing him. It is safe to say you are not one of his immediate worries, and in fact he is falling into your hands right now.

As you exit the canyon, the city of Taiton finally comes into view; ruined skyscrapers outlined by the moon's reflection in the bay and illuminated by the searchlights, lasers, and anti-air fire coming from downtown. Stricken air cruisers from all sides lay burning in the slums, and the tracers in the streets indicate that most of the fighting still hasn't made it across the river to the city proper. Because any allied elements that push farther in would be annihilated by the enormous Imperial Dreidecker and its escort looming over the heart of the city, or because most of the bridges have been destroyed, it doesn't really matter. None of that is your objective, all you have to do is help the allied planes establish air superiority.
