Walter breaks off from the trail and heads towards virvel
: I hope you're pulling my leg.
Virvel's plane has leveled out and is lazily circling around towards the carrier.
: I'm dead serious. Look, I'll explain later, right now I need to find somewhere to land this thing before my only engine dies.

: Command, what's the direction and distance of the parade grounds or Stadium?

Gaffe pulls close to the carrier and prepares for landing.

: Command, what's the direction and distance of the parade grounds or Stadium?
Walter continues to look around for possible landing areas, beginning to grow a little uneasy from the uncertain time limit
All you can see below you is an endless sea of street and window lights.
: Parade Grounds are at bearing zero-two-five, thirty miles. Coliseum is at bearing-
: I can't just crash this, man! It is literally going to kill me! Tell the guys scraping Sleipnir off the wall to hurry the hell up before I add myself to their task list!
: ...

: Do you have that same module that Draugr uses? what are you talking about? Can you not land on the parade grounds because it will set off?

Walter stops looking down at the city to shift his focus back on the carrier and Virvel

: You may want to hustle with that cleanup, I don't think she's waiting for permission.

Walter stops looking down at the city to shift his focus back on the carrier and Virvel
: No, I'm not one of those loving thugs! But do you know how far it takes for a plane to slow down!? I don't think they have an arresting wire on a loving parade ground!

: You may want to hustle with that cleanup, I don't think she's waiting for permission.
: We're still looking at ten minutes to get the deck cleared of anything that might get sucked into an intake. Maybe twenty.
: Fine! Ruin the second engine, I don't care, as long as I'm on solid ground!

: Can we get a clearing for emergency landing on the carrier? The air frame is totaled either way and the rest of us should be able to wait.

Walter uneasily waits for the response, trying to think of other options

Walter uneasily waits for the response, trying to think of other options
: You can't just- oh, screw it. Wait one moment.

The moment in question drags on an uncomfortably long amount of time. Virvel finishes turning around and begins climbing back up to the carrier's altitude.

Walter falls in near Virvel to survey the damage as he takes in a breath to even out some anxiety

: Just hold it steady, nothing jumpy and you'll make it.

: Just hold it steady, nothing jumpy and you'll make it.
: Auxilia 1-6, you are cleared for emergency landing.
: About goddamn time!

Virvel finishes bringing her plane around and sets herself up for a landing.
: Just operating on one half an engine out of two, shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Walter breathes a sigh of relief but continues to watch the single engine

: I've done it in a disintegrating gunship, you'll be able to do it just as fine in a fighter.

Virvel just hums and sings nervously to herself as she approaches and eventually sets down hard on the deck, a rough but nonlethal landing. The rest of you are forced to wait another several minutes before being permitted to land again.

: I'll talk to you once I set down instead of over these comms.

Both squadrons return to their respective carriers.

: Not bad, folks, not bad at all. That's two less speed bumps to slow down our cruisers. Guess you lot aren't as useless as I thought. Romeo should be mopping up that enemy squadron right about now too, so that's a plus. Unfortunately, we need you back out there right away. The Brynhildr has abandoned formation and is not responding to hails, and the Sky Marshal isn't taking any risks with anyone else deserting. You're going to shoot it down. Get moving.

: Though the fleet sustained minor damage and we lost our initial squadron of Typhoons, there is no way the Aesthians can spin this attack as a success. Your... hm, enthusiastic rout of the enemy squadrons destroyed all but three of their planes, and prevented Indomitus from sharing Dictator's fate. That being said, you will be returning to the skies as soon as your planes have been refueled. An Aesthian airship captain has mutinied and expressed a desire to surrender his ship to us, but some of his crew is fighting back. We have already prepared boarding teams to help secure his hold on his ship, as well as make sure of his intentions. You will escort their transports. I know it's been a long night, so amphetamine tablets have been made available at your squadron leader's discretion.

Markus raises his hand to ask a question, and makes no effort to hide the fatigue in his voice.
: Sir, what happened to the Dictator?
