TROPICOLA AMIGOS inspired by sid jairos management of nations, and abs fiesta's use of google spreadsheetsWelcome, Amigo! For whatever reason, you've managed to gain power in some left for dead pothole of a colony. Your people are starving and they live in shacks.
There are revolutions annually. But...
Perhaps you're the man they need to become one of the greats? Eh, probably not. Whatever. Just beware; all nations fall in time.
Dark warning aside: good luck, Amigo. You'll need it.
Known ProvincesThese are the places your people exist in.
At first, you'll be too poor to create any ships capable of the challenges the oceans will pose. But when you are ocean faring, be on the lookout for more provinces.
Condor
A tropical realm, Condor has excellent farm land and more than one source of exotic commodities.
Kestrel
Kestrel is better than Condor, one could say. It's bigger, and it doesn't have the sweltering heat or humidity of Condor, either. Unfortunately, Kestrel's shores aren't as fertile as Condor's but it makes up for this in its rich ore-filled mountains. It, uh, also has a bit of an aggressive natives problem.
Lore Logic and Natives1 irl day = 5 years
The year is 15. Up until recently, nobody thought of keeping track... Firearms do not exist (yet). Oil has been discovered, but its uses in (to you) modern marvels like the combustion engine have yet to be pioneered. It's mostly lamp fuel. Long-range ships do exist but are very expensive. Announce an exploration of the seas if you decide to look for new lands.
Natives are those barely clothed barbarians in the woods. Some will trade with you, others will shoot you with their bows. They do not believe in land ownership, and react negatively towards controlled or closed border laws. However, if you have open border laws which let them in, do not be surprised if they attack your villages. Some won't, though.
Speaking of borders, the needs of a military and towns or forts for that military grow as your borders do. Don't claim a huge chunk of the island right off the bat. That's a great way to strain your military, piss off other nations, and piss off the natives. Announce it if you create a new town or expand your borders.
This spreadsheet will explain a lot to you. You won't have to crunch any numbers, that's my job. Civ traits are color coded. Matching colors conflict with each other and only one can be adopted. Special areas are also color coded. These match their placements on the province maps.
