Maybe I'm wrong, but in Halo 2 and 3 "ass" is the file extension for level geometry.
Yeah, it's just asset.
More concerning is ui_researchtana.

Half false.

Halo: Reach has audio files that are named ass_grabbed, and ass_grabber. Both are voice files. They contain the grunts that each player makes during assassinations.
Don't forget die_ass!

I don't know if it's also a file extension though. That, and that's halo 3 and 2, so. Though judging by the filenames surrounding, it is sound files.

In case anyone missed it the halo CMT SPV3 map for Silent Cartographer was released https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlJmazvG8WI

Speaking of that, I've just recently got back into map making with another group called NP. Im not quite cut out for spv3 material, yet.
also look out for an Easter egg inspired by yours truly, involves music

I'm probably going to start working on my own OpenSauce maps as well, if I can get past all of this college work.

If you have anything over windows xp, good luck getting anything to work except Eschaton. .tool won't even work even with compatibility mode, I've had to hunt a copy of xp and break my laptop in the process just to get basic functionality, and on top of that, you have to know how to interact with ALL of these programs.

Open sauce doesn't allow user configuration yet. And all progress on Zeus, is halted because of Halo online. Everyone's going apestuff about its apparent "mod" compatibility.
The only teams still active is MattDratt's team, private. CMT, as of now not taking anyone because Spv3 is basically finished. And NP. Although at this point half the members are inactive.

Its a long grueling task for one scenario file, and after that you have to write out all tag files and compile it which can take hours.
But the effort is worth it with the beautiful things you can still pump out on this engine.

I've been using the HEK and OpenSauce HEK every once in a while for the past few years on XP, Vista, 7 and 8. I don't know what's going on with your machines but mine work fine.

What? It has an XML file which handles a number of settings users can modify, and then you can also add menus in-game so that users can customise options there too.

You're assuming I haven't done this before.

I may have never released a map, but I made a stuff-ton of them, including my own ones (modeled with GMax and textured with GIMP) as well as modifications of popular maps like Extinction (I used HEK+ to rip the tags) and even made a mini-campaign.

Yesterday I did a presentation on one particular Halo overhaul I was working on that I'm really embarrassed of now but basically is the reason I'm studying game design now.

also here's a bunch of GOOFY ARMOUR

some Gundam and Transformers stuff in there
well stuff, the halo 4 armor sets are coming back

Judging by the weird textureless visors, I'm assuming visor coloring is coming back. Which I won't complain to, I love indepth customization.

I liked the actually "realistic" looking armor from the original two to three. (However, Hayabusa armor is the exception to the rule. It was badass even if it wasn't realistic.)

And by realistic, I mean I'd consider the armor in those games pretty close to what a real world comparison would look like.

But seriously. The armor in the newest games is just taking the piss more than Saints Row 4 did with the rest of the series.

And that's saying something.

Ironically, the suits in Reach and 4 are more realistic, as in what you would see irl. Why? Well it actually comes from the cosplayers/costumers. The 1-3 armor is rather bulky, and there's a few joints that are blocked by armor peices that don't allow full movement and rotation. The newer sets sought out to be more open and less hindering.

what I wanna know is how the master chief's armor was switched out on that ship between halo 3 and 4

Apparently the Dawn's cryo pods come equipped with nanobots that Cortana used to change the armor. She also modified the firmware, which explains the UI changes and compatibility with armor abilities.

I see the Halo CE armor again. A lot of these new armors look they belong in a fantasy game and are just too out of place.

And yet, the bulky armour looks WAY loving better.

Still doesn't explain how the Grunts and Jackals in Halo 4 look entirely different.
