von Gneisenau arrives to the besieged city of Kosagrad with an additional 55,000 Fähnrich, 1,250 Grenadiers, 3,000 light and heavy cavalry, as well as around 200 cannons and 60 howitzers. He immediately orders Elmic troops in the city to hunker down as they build makeshift bunkers, cavalry traps and various infantry traps in a heavily defended line. Some of the cannons are moved up into the city to be used as close fire support with grapeshot and the like. Bags of dirt or sand are used to protect the pieces as they attempt to create a no-mans'-land in front of their lines. Taczowa sharpshooters are brought up and are stationed along the lines to pick off Vlastcovite forces, and often go on nighttime raids into enemy territory to eliminate enemy officers.
He uses the rest of his non-reserve forces along with additional Elmic troops to push the flanks of the city and secure it from Vlastcovite forces. More defenses, not nearly as heavy as those in the city, are constructed there.
He calls for militia reinforcements as all of his remaining batteries, numbering roughly 155 cannons and 55 howitzers begin to shell the Vlastcovite side of the city relentlessly with only one objective in mind; total and utter destruction.
He also begins replacing Elmic officers under him with Kyrevan officers, the majority of whom are almost fanatically loyal to Kyrev and by extension, the UEK, following the death of Duke Leopold II. This also extends to Kyrevan foot troops.
Kyrevan generals elsewhere enforce a policy of slow advance, attempting to fight a war of attrition against the outnumbered Vlast as they receive standard and militia reinforcements. Similar policies as those used in Kosagrad are used as they reach larger towns or cities. Additionally, men are issued with cloth masks that are soaked in water to try to somewhat protect from the effects of hemlock. Groves of hemlock are secured wherever possible. The noose on Vlast's neck tightens as the majority of the UEK's military begins pouring on to Vlast soil.
Large scale recruiting happens in Kyrev, and government propaganda supporting the war against "the Duke-murdering Vlastcovite villains" is spread to every village, town and city in Kyrev. The already angered populace join in waves.
