I cant wait for that answer, in the episode with the centipeedle steven tames, you can see as it gets unbubbled that it looks like it will be humanoid first but turns monster shortly after, same with that fusion expieriment in keeping it together

lapis's gem was only cracked. corrupted gems are supposedly more 'feral,' steven's heals probs wouldn't help much

Any remaining gems from the war could have become corrupted or broken over the years.
