Well I can't script whatsoever, but in case I ever learn animations or anything, I try to future proof stuff. Basically I just separate the parts of the body that would have an actual joint (Fingers,knees etc). An example I would have to give would be a Rayquaza I did around the same time I finished Regigigas and immediately began work on it for a day.

His entire body is like a snake, so having him be stiff wouldn't make sense. Basically I just cut up the 'segments' of his body so he could bend.
The result would maybe be something like this, but it's old and still needs a touch-up.

I end up using union for everything, that's if it wants to work. Sometimes I crash and lose progress and it kills my mood for a bit then I come back like an hour later and try again.
I guess another example relating to joints is something like in Garry's Mod. You group all appropriate parts and give them names that make sense too.

Making a neat layout for grouping allows easier access to parts of the body and you end up with a faster way for posing or scripting specific parts.
