Why do we have to constantly talk about subjects such as opression? Unless population between LGBT and !LGBT is at complete equilibrium, someone's always going to be opressed. And saying that "you don't want to see x do y because they're x" is completely hypocritical. Unless they're doing something morally wrong or just something completely disgusting, it's useless to get upset.

Harassing others based on their loveual orientation is not a political belief, it is a personal belief, it is prejudice, in the same way that racism is not a political belief. If someone is harassing you for being a straight white male in school then I'm absolutely certain they would get the same treatment.

It very well may be a political opinion. A political belief IS a personal belief. There is no evidence that they actually harassed them for being "x", they were probably just doing it to be "funny". Even then, it is not the school's place to change those. The school is supposed to be totally neutral.

Being gay does not make you any more special than someone who is not gay, so there is no need to act like it, and then label anyone who calls you out on it as a "family man". There were a couple of people like that at my schools, but they were universally known as arseholes, and the girls who let them do it were basically pushovers, or seeking the attention.

But to say it's perfectly normal is an overstatement.
I don't think the average heteroloveual male is like that.
I think it's basically the equal position to thinking all gay people are camp/flamboyant/explicit, because those few who are happen to be the loudest most visible people.

Considering less than 5% of the population is LGBT+, it's not really likely that they'll ever be in a position of power above straight cis people

While technically oppression can never be "ended", the whole point is to mitigate its effects to where they are basically negligible.

A large portion of teenagers who consider themselves part of the legbutt community. After around three years in my schools own legbutt organisation, PRISM, I gave up on them entirely because of how astoundingly apparent that became.
I'd like to think it's simply an adolescence sort of thing, but I've never stuck around those people long enough to find out, so who knows.

This is irreverent. The school does not have the right to violate freedom of speech unless it is disruptive (for example, screaming "FIRE!" for no reason). The school is a government entity and thus is held to the same standards as all government entities.You have freedom of speech in school. Whether you were arrested or not doesn't matter-- punishment because of opinion falls under the same category. It's like saying "Schools are allowed to give black kids bad grades because they didn't arrest them".

You really don't have freedom of speech at school actually. But in the case of non-disruptive symbolic speech (like confederate flags) they can't really do anything, although I bet they could get away with calling it hate speech of some kind. You could also argue it's disruptive in that it seems threatening.

Sorry - didn't mean to word that so overtly. What I mean is that opression is inevitable, but we should still respect minorities, if they have below 20% standing. What I mean by this is not that we keep being rude to the 30%, or anyone that has a population above 20% - but we should repect people for who they are regardless of what they do.
