They added in some of its elements, like stimpaks healing over time.
Plus the game is much harder than previous ones in my experience.

But they removed doctor bags for crippled limbs.

Also a stimpack heals ANY limb you don't even need to apply it to a specific limb anymore. They went a step backwards.

It's not for casuals if that's what you mean.

Getting instakilled by a bulletsponge enemy while wearing end-game gear isn't something I'd even expect to see in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with the MISERY mod. As valid as "git gud" usually is it's not really an excuse for plain stuffty enemy design.

Sometimes I feel like some of you haven't actually played the game yet and you're just complaining about whatever you saw on reddit.

Wow, that just sounds incredibly awful and not fun. Glad they changed it.
I dunno, maybe because like 20 people tell you death claws are not to be trifled with, even the Gun Runners (who own chainguns, plasma cannons, and rocket launchers) can't even get rid of them, and they're the result of pre-war experimentation?

If they weren't able to one shot them and you were able to just walk into their layers and kill them easily it would take out all of the tension and suspense that comes with killing a death claw.

When I got the quest from the Gun Runners to get rid of the deathclaws I was scared stuffless. I had to blow all of my money on a good new set of armor, around 20 stims, and a ton of ammo for my .223 pistol. Turns out I needed it all. The mother death claw really forgeted me over, and by the end of it I was all out of stimpacks and Ian was dead.

However, what I got from it was the opening of a supply route to a group of people that needed the guns desperately, and I got a pretty bit of experience too.

Going into dangerous engagements that are forewarned to be incredibly dangerous should not be easy, whatever your definition of gun it.

You can also upgrade your SPECIALs instead of choosing a perk btw

i kind of wish the SPECIALs were upgradeable just by doing related tasks for long enough.

like, you go to the gym enough irl, you get stronger

so i mean why not just follow similar principles in the game, but, y'know, at a sort of accelerated pace. that way, getting stronger, smarter, more agile, more charismatic etc. isn't just a matter of "oh i've been around long enough, i'm gonna be a herculean god now"

Didn't say it had to "be easy" but getting 1-shot in end-game equipment is crossing the line into ridiculousness. Completely voids the point of preparing before hand, might as well go in naked and hamfist it if you're going to get insta'd in power armor anyway.

Well to be fair I was level 10, bro.

Yeah, that is handicapped. When I first got a crippled limb I was clicking it and nothing was happening. loving Bethesda.

The outcome is the same so why do you care? Like were you planning to not heal a certain limb?

how would you train perception? or luck?

or like, any of these things except intelligence. it just wouldnt work and it would be time consuming if it went the way of the GTA method where you shoot a car repeatedly to gain weapons stats

shooting stuff and getting crits or something

strength could increase based based on how often you use unarmed/melee attacks or carry around a large amount of stuff as you walk around the wasteland
perception could just go up over time, or maybe the more you're subjected to things that mess with your perception like alcohol or drug withdrawal (those mess with your "senses," right?)
endurance could increase based on withstanding and recovering from damage that's dealt to you
charisma could go up by interacting with people frequently
intelligence could go up by hacking terminals, reading, lockpicking, etc.
agility could go up by running around or sneaking
and luck could just go up by getting criticals :^)

i just think it would be an interesting idea to try out, at least for a mod

I wish there was a way to extend the lifetime of the Lover's Embrace perk, the xp boost is crazy useful in the long-run but it usually disappears by the time I actually fast-travel to my destination lol

also there were only two times you encountered the death claws. You only have to fight one in the missing caravan quest(optional). The other time you will run into them is when you do the gun runner quest to wipe out the nest(optional). If you have the automatic combat shotgun and hunting pistol or flamer and rocket launcher you should be fine. Plasma rifle and 14mms pistol are also good claw killers. Other than that randomly encountering them in the desert was pretty rare. You were more likely to run into squishy raiders than into a death claw.
