Can you handle people being excited about something you're not?
The excitement doesn't seem to make any sense. For all we know, this is from the same company that thought paid mods were a good idea.

for the record its the publishers that wanted that, not the developers

this game is also from the developers that made skyrim, fallout 3, and oblivion

Well a lot of people who never heard of the series enjoyed 3 and NV and people who love Beth enjoyed 3.

I have to play the game myself to judge it. Although  you know Todd Howard says many things.

If you don't like it, then perhaps ignore it? Also, paid mods are theoretically a great idea. The way valve implemented them was terrible.

I have a test in 20 minutes, but here's a short speal. Imagine those big expansion mods that people put hundreds of hours of their life into. Now imagine being able to charge people like $2.50 or something really low to download that massive expansion to a game they already enjoy. Its really not a lot of money for each consumer, however it adds up to quite a bit for the mod dev. There are obvious abuses to this system and downsides, but it is an interesting model that we never got to see truly tested.

Now imagine you had to pay $2.50 for the bug fix mod that you actually need to play the game.

Someone else would come along and make the same mod and not charge for it. Its still a free market, last I checked.

Can someone explain why literally everyone is freaking out about this game when it's not even released yet?

You've never been excited about something that's going to happen in the future?

Good thing that doesn't happen

Are you sure about that? That they wouldn't want to cash in a few bucks just because they can?

Are you trolling?
I guess we will see when the game is released.

How dare people get money for things they do

There seems to be the trend recently of using that word to describe completely normal expectations that have always been like this. I think it started on tumblr.
