Has anyone had issues with mods so far? I haven't been downloading anything because I read that you risk save corruption with current mods until GECK is released

I'm running like 10 mods and also richarding around with scripts in the cheat engine and I haven't had any problems at all so far. Every time I quit the game or tinker with a suspect mod I make a backup of my saves, though.

No problems here, I've even disabled some mods mid-playthrough with no adverse effects

I've had several instances of save corruption so far on unmodded Xbox saves.
It would seem it could just be a semi-common issue with the base game, rather than mods triggering it.

PC; I'm running 105 mods. sometimes the game freezes up or straight crashes but I've never had save corruption

it took the bullet crack sound effects from insurgency. a victimless crime if you ask me, but its a precedent worth taking for a modding website. you can have people taking stuff that isn't theirs, even if it is minor.

Questing is best.
Railroad is good as they have a lot of radiant quests and the locations you go to can double up with other ones, particularly the bulletin board in Diamond City next to Moe's shop.
You could be sent to clear ghouls in a location for a bulletin board, but also sent to setup a device at the same place by the RR, so when done you get a tidy sum of XP.

Idiot Savant perk is also good, especially if it triggers on a quest completion. You could earn 2-3k for 1 quest.
