its actually both in the game universe as it clearly has a revolver cylinder but in game it is described as magazine fed singleshot autoloading pistol with ammo capacity of 12 which would not all fit in the cylinder

Yes this is possible. There are real guns made that have both.

You have to count the magazine + the ammo in the cylinder.

So say there is 9 in the magazine and 3 in the revolving cylinder that makes 12 in total.
