the lack of a buffer on melee really puts me off

i always keep getting stuck in end lag of moves or i cant jump because im still DOING A MOVE and it pisses me off.

it's what i like about melee tbh
it allows precision of control. when the game puts in an action some time after i input it, it feels sluggish.
now, i probably wouldn't mind like, a 1-3 frame buffer, because it's small enough to not be very noticeable but would certainly ease some inputs while significantly lowering the probability of accidental inputs

The buffer makes reacting to stuff much harder though. Not having a buffer in Melee isn't actually a downside unless you've been conditioned to use a buffer. If you were timing your button presses correctly then you wouldn't be getting stuck in things.

I don't get how a buffer would make anything easier

i'm not really sure either but i imagine it would help some things
i always forget up my jump->upairs whenever i hit the c-stick too soon so it would probably help me there
or loving up anything with falco's jump because his jumpsquat is so long what the poop

i'll get the timing down eventually though so it doesn't matter to me

oh also if a dolphin replay desyncs at the same time every time is it just forgeted?
because i totally sacred combo'd niff and it's after the desync point and i'm really sad ):

living in canada is such bullstuff when it comes to netplay

I'm super used to no buffer and playing on netplay actually fricks me up a lot more when I'm playing irl since irl has no buffer, I kinda wanna meet all of the melee/PM people here at some kind of tourney but that's very unrealistic, I wanna see how everyone does with no buffer

Also I like playing ganon but I'm too used to the PM utilt and his melee utilt dosent even break sheilds

i'm the opposite, i've netplayed for years so i just internalize the delay when it's like 3 or less buffer
4 is still really good for me, 5 is okay and 6 is when i start to mess up

so i came from playing smash 4 which has what, a 10 or 13 frame buffer?  then i switched to pm which has appx 3 (or was it just the 1 frame physics delay)??  it felt quite natural making the switch, and i hardly even noticed the buffer wasn't really there except for when i was practicing l cancels and wavedashes which took some time to get very consistently.

now when i switch back to smash 4 i'm like "wait why am i jump-airdodging" when trying to JC-grab and wavedash, and all the movement just feels sluggish in comparison.  still a fun game, especially for friendlies and stuff, but i'd rather focus on pm since i feel the roster is much more balanced there.

also dash dancing.  that is the pretty much the biggest thing that i love about movement in PM (or in luigi's case, wavedash-dancing).  i can't do it in smash 4 and my neutral suffers for it a lot

smash 4 has a 10 frame buffer
in project m there normally isn't a buffer but you can turn on input assistance, which i can't remember if it's just a 3 frame buffer or a customizable amount

Whenever I go from PC to console, I have to warm up to get used to the buffer (or lack thereof), but getting used to doing a wavedash and lcanceling is the best

I love it

I thought it was one frame, idk though
