diddy competitively now is like having leffen as his own god damn character, yeah I've jumped on the hate train, most people have, but playing a character just for the stuffty banana and dthrow to hoo hah isn't competitive. unless you count the same string of moves a skill. you play to have fun (and hopefully win money/become better), not to brag about "OHH YEAH I MAIN DIDDY, SO GODLIKE".

diddy has a lot more to him as a character than dthrow autocombos and bananas lol one of which was nerfed so it isn't as faceroll
like why would you think that all he has is just one thing that makes him good, little mac has super armor on smash attacks and they're godlike strength and you can change fsmash to just do more damage and almost instantly shield break
but he's still not a top tier character, no recovery and his jump sucks, also
not every top player plays suboptimally to have fun.. why would you look at a character and say "Wow, what a fantastic character! I bet I could take home money and kick ass while doing it!" and then look at another and say "Wow, what a character! It gets all options covered easily by other characters!"
maybe at a lower level yeah you don't need to play top to have fun and win
but when you're at the top there isn't much room for lower tiers because most players are pushing the top characters to the current limits and if you can't keep up then you switch mains to someone who can and utilize their tools

mang0 sd'd twice and threw his controller (uncharacteristic of him)
leffen lost to samus
plup forgeted up his controller yesterday and had to use a new one, but still took out leffen (he had pretty much given up too.. weird)
this is armada's first supermajor win since coming back from his hiatus (its been like 5 years and he was consistently on the cusp of winning)
i don't know about any other drama tho. people were booing hbox because he was ledgecamping
yeah this evo was just pretty weird
didn't get to see all of it but all i hear is about bad play and upsets and weird behavior
