so is there any way of playing SSBmelee online? I don't know anyone irl who plays and all I can do is fight handicapped bots (and even level 9's can be stupid and walk into obvious traps)

I have the same exact problem. I have like no money and all i have is brawl and the level 9 AI's are so weird to fight. They can block and shieldgrab you in under half a second, they can dodge literally any attack they throw at you. But they run into every loving trap there is, fail easy recoveries all the time, and dont act like a player at all. Also project M doesnt work on my wii for some reason.

Brawl netplay is a thing too btw, not as popular as Melee (or Project M.)

are you using a normal SD card? (not SDHC)
