if you really think about it, if you're having trouble in smash 4, pm isnt gonna be any easier.

my L-cancel average went from ~25% to ~33% :0
He never said Smash 4 was hard, just that it was tedious. And I'd argue PM is less tedious than Smash 4, simply because of the physics engine allowing for combos to occur easier. And the faster characters allow for tighter neutral exchanges.
Also, keep up the practice! Make sure you practice L cancelling after hitting people or their shields as well, as the bit of stun will throw off the timing.

PM seems like the best of both worlds for ex Smash 4 fans. You get a healthy roster of viable characters like Smash 4 but with the Melee engine.
currently i am stuff at project m because i dont fully have the movement down and i dont really have anyone to play with, but it's still more challenging and fits more to my preference in fighting games.
(if i had a gamecube controller with an adapter that could change but)
This wonderful thing is only $15 USD, and it's completely lagless and will even work on your PC as well as your Wii U, in case you decide to look into that.

also apparently splatoon is getting a $1,000,000 tournament series sponsored by nintendo

forget this gay earth

you what
it's true though

slower characters generally don't perform well competitively

Don't more people play Smash tho? :^?

I read an interesting viewpoint on twitter, saying because Smash has some crossover content (trophies, characters, items and stuff from IPs that they don't control) it's harder for them to do a tournament series or something. Also, Sakurai is a fuccboi who probably doesn't want the competitive scene to receive official support, but Splatoon is produced by another team who are all for it.

1.62 million copies sold Splatoon's first month, and estimates are broaching 2.7 million now; smesh hit 4 million between both versions a few month ago

why would you count the older versions though
the actual number of people who play each is probably in the lower thousands by now

why would you count the older versions though
The first one was just for comparison. For a game in 1999 it still sold 5 million copies
then Melee to show the potential for how big that scene is. I was kind of padding with that maybe.

I kinda saw it coming because of A) The 3DS sells a LOT more in japan then anywhere else iirc and B) still not many people have a wii u
