It's not. Look up all the evidence for global warming and up the effects it would have.

Here's a concept: use technology to solve the problems. Holland has been quite literally sinking into the ocean for a long ass time now, but you don't see them drowning. Sea walls and stuff go a long way.

Unfortunately even building massive sea walls won't help things either, as there are other effects that global warming has.
Look at california, for example. First they have a massive multi-year drought, and now they have a massive hailstorm. Notice something here? They're both extreme weather. The more you heat up the globe the more extreme the weather gets, both dry and wet. Hurricanes get significantly more powerful, Tornados can happen more often, droughts will affect large portions of the world where there was previously no problem and other places will get rained on like never before.

I live over 1000 miles from any existing ocean so I will do pretty much whatever I want. Although I don't condone intentionally polluting (dumping, littering, etc) and think recycling is beneficial (even though I don't), I'm not going to pay $50,000 for an electric car just because I should feel bad about the earth.
