Author Topic: Internet privacy in the US is about to come to an end.  (Read 8985 times)

Im betting in 20 years the internet will be just as awful as Cable TV

still better

this reasoning is why this bill is going to pass

yeah make it so everyone in power has no idea what they're doing
So you think it wouldn't change anything?

So you think it wouldn't change anything?
yeah it would change things
the change would be bad because no one has any loving idea how anythings works or how to run anything
the people in office are there for a reason, they know what they're doing and understand how the government works

How would spying possibly stop terrorists from communicating over the internet? People will always find ways to skirt the law so all this stuff does is hurt the common man. You'd think prohibition would have been enough to demonstrate how this works against the intention.

My plan was always to move out of my hometown after college (housing in the CA Bay Area is really expensive), but now do I have to cross the whole US off the list?

This is exactly the problem. It's not going to fix a goddamn thing and all it does is hurt normal law abiding people. These people understand absolutely nothing about how society and technology actually works.

The worst part is that it's impossible to get through to anybody who can do anything. The system has been rigged by a bunch of richardheads exploiting loopholes to make the system work for them.

"hey man remember all the surveillance that prevented those terrorist attacks yeah man"

wait does this affect canada in any way as well or is just for the US (please pardon my political stupidity)

they may understand the government but do they understand the people?
no and if we put normal people they wouldnt understand government

its a lose-lose situation

no and if we put normal people they wouldnt understand government

its a lose-lose situation
so which one would you prefer

it's like one of those morality questions

...but then again anyone can learn how the government works, but not everyone can understand the people
