"this was lukes lightsaber, and his fathers before him, now its calling to you"
rey has a x wing pilot doll in her home
rey is a natural pilot and has a rebel pilot helmet, like luke
her and luke both pull the same lightsaber from the snow in dire situations
han and chewie give her a position on their crew hours after they meet her, after working alone for 30+ years. han wants to watch over his neice.

rey is lukes daughter its basically confirmed

those may sort of signify that luke is her father, but it doesn't 100% directly imply it.

yeah the movie never directly said "rey is luke's daughter"
but its pretty easy to speculate
another possibility is that rey was one of luke's students, which explains why when she touches the lightsaber, she sees kylo ren and his knights with a bunch of people slaughtered, that could be when he betrayed luke, and when that happened, Rey was sent off to the remote planet jakku.
max von sydow's character could be there to watch over him, seeing his obvious direct relationship with the resistance

it could be both also

Or that, you know, maybe ray was put on Jakku to escape the first imperial recruitment system. Ray is on the opposite side of the coin to fin. The shuttle that dropped off ray doesn't look to be from imperial or Republic/Resistance origins which could suggest that ray was dumped on Jakku by her previous family.

Why is Ray force sensitive?
Anyone can harness the force. Hell Chewy and Han could be force users respectively. This is apparent in the Knights of the Old republic games, where you were able to completely turn your party into force sensitive users/Jedi/Sith if they weren't already. (Excluding droids of course, because they aren't considered "living"). Also, the force is naturally present around every living creature just like Mahz described. Some people are more force sensitive than others, for the longest time, the trailer had us thinking that Fin was supposed to be the lead role/Jedi type of deal.

Could Fin be a force user?
Probably. With training he could, if he went with Ray to find Luke, then perhaps he could've gone into training. I'm not directly implying he will become a force sensitive user, it's just a thought. Being traumatized can also bring out the force, light or dark, in some way. In the first scene of the movie, you could tell that Fin was willing to kill up until his buddy or former squad mate (unknown) was killed by a blaster bolt. I'm assuming it's one of his friends because he kind of reaches out to fin before he dies as a "help me" of some sorts. This is probably what "Woke fin up". He realized what he was doing was wrong and this forced him to truly open his eyes and realize what he's working for. We'll have to see.

Where the forget is the Rebellion?
It's probably evident enough that we don't see a single Resistance/Rebellion Flag "ship". Aside from the X-Wing squad lead by Po. But, where is the rebellion? Now, in the expanded universe, the Empire truly never went away. Palpatine had clones of his body and his "ghost" essentially possessed those husks whenever he was killed. The Empire split into multiple branches and segregated across the galaxy pretty much. Admiral Thrawn lead the First Remnant of the Empire against the rebellion, so we can only assume that the Rebellion is somewhere other than the current system Jakku is located in. Maybe the First Order is one of those segregated imperial regiments, i don't know. The only ship they posses though is roughly a modified Star Destroyer, probably a branch model.

There are so many things in this movie that i missed that i had to go back and watch it two more times. It's good for what it's worth.

At least Kylo Ren didn't remove the mask and reveal himself to be Jar Jar Binks

do you have to be related to a jedi to become one, or is it some random thing?
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Midi-chlorian

Midi Chlorian is basically a "matter" that the force can interact with. People with higher Midi-chlorian count are typically stronger in the force.

So, Rey must be lukes daughter, as she defeated a semi trained sith knight in a lightsaber duel, when she had no (FORCE) training at all.(she clearly knew how to use a weapon, she beat the stuff out of people with that spear in the beginning!) her Midi-Chlorian count must be higher than Anakin's once was.

Actually thinking about it, the reason Rey must be so good with a light saber is because she was most likely part of Luke's academy, before the knights of ren came and slaughtered it.

No, midi-chlorians are sentient "organelles" that inhabit the cells of ALL LIVING THINGS. If you have a high midi-chlorian count, you are considered force-sensitive and are able to use the force. These organelles behave like the Mitochondria in a way - they are essential for life to exist.

Midi-cholorians are basically cellphone towers. They allow people to communicate and manipulate the force. The more you have, the stronger the connection.

I am really pissed that Rey could immediately use a jedi mind-trick without any former training.

I am assuming that touching Anakin's and Luke's light saber gave her the "knowledge" about the force.

She was most likely trained for a few years/months at Luke's academy. Not to mention she must have a stuff ton of Midi-chlorians.

Just watched the movie. I don't understand why the Republic was also called the Resistance almost interchangeably; if the empire had fallen, who are they resisting? Does this make the First Order the rebels? Did they already have total control of the Galaxy? Sure, the name fits by the middle of the movie, but I don't understand why the good guys were the Resistance in the beginning, too.

Also, I really like the whole "space national socialists" thing the First Order has going on.

The Republic is the main government in the galaxy that is demilitarized. The Resistance was formed to defeat the growing First Order. The Republic supports the Resistance. This is all stated in the opening credits.

Well, my mistake. I guess it just slipped my mind at some point.

this movie reminds me of a new hope for some reason

Psssh.

Why did they literally just do a not as tight version of the plot to Episode 4?

Then she'd remember Luke and who he was and not say: "Luke Skywalker? Jedi? I thought they were myths!?"

also i don't think you can train when you're like 3 or 4 because thats when she was left on jakku.
