The 5th and 6th line infantry brigades are ordered to hunt down and eliminate the rebel forces, to prevent any more government forces from having to deploy. The commanding officer of the deployed forces, expecting a quick and decisive battle, marches his forces straight into enemy territory without scouting ahead. They form extremely long columns for movement and prepare to set themselves up for traditional battle.
After about 12 miles of marching, several parts of the column are suddenly fired at by men on horseback. As soon as the attack begins, it ends, and the army continues marching. This happens more and more along their route of choice.
After hours of this happening and hundreds of men dead or wounded, the army begins to retreat. On the march back, more intense barrages occur, some even with cannon.
As the army approaches its garrison, they see smoke. The rebels burn the base to the ground and take the guards prisoner. The government army has no choice but to surrender to Sedik's regular army. All prisoners are told why the revolution is occurring and are given the option to join the cause or return home.
