N Korea is a literal hornets nest. A gigantic, literally brainwashed army + nuclear arsenal + military "intervention" = nuclear war.
They can't even hit Japan.
The only way to attack the US is to nuke US military assets in south korea, or their major cities to provoke us.

Which could be suicidal for them.

It's already been revealed that Obama had their missile systems hacked which accounts for most of their launch failures seconds after initiation.
I highly doubt they'd get a nuke off before we crushed their capabilities with our military if we chose to.
The US could literally end their reign of terror and worse-than-national socialist styled hard labor / torture camps.

Here's the thing: They don't need to hit japan or the US in order to devastate millions and millions of people. They could just as easily go for South Korea or any populated area of nearby China, which while suicidal would again, in the process kill millions and millions of people. We literally cannot underestimate their insanity, they could nuke their own goddamned people for all we know. It's just too dangerous.

best case scenario on invading north korea, hundreds of thousands of koreans die. worst case, tens of millions of koreans and japanese die.
if we try to invade, they're going to be more backed into a corner than ever (they know they will capitulate) and kimmy will send off missiles. what depends is how many of them go off.

on the other hand, we could just wait them out and keep trying to pump in western media so the north koreans understand just how backwards their country is

How did you calculate any of these numbers

are you being dumb on purpose

No are you talking about the armies or civilians

North Korea has one of the largest artillery forces in the world and they're all already manned and pointed at South Korea.  I think it was something like 55% of the population of SK also live within the range of these forces.  It's also assumed they would deploy chemical weapons, so by the time we started to mobilize the death toll would be astronomical.

How did you calculate any of these numbers

Those numbers seem like a pretty reasonable estimate. Maybe the worst case is a little high but it could still reasonably be around 20 million.

"koreans" includes both armies and civilians. casualties are casualties.

assuming all goes well for them and they send all their missiles out to major population centers, they could definitely get 20 million or more. but naturally that is the worst case scenario.

No remember, soldiers aren't people. As long as Halliburton gets their paycheck, how many die in useless wars is irrelevant.

I don't see what's stopping us from covert operations.

Hack their systems and then send in Navy SEALs to permanently disable their nuclear arsenal. Then drop Spec Ops into the area near the demilitarized zone where all the artillery is and shut that down. It would leave the country wide open for a classic US steamroll.

anyone want to poke holes in my obviously flawless plan

you're missing the obvious solution. colony collapse disorder. its worked on bees, no?

Well first, you don't know how hacking works if you think it's just as easy as "hacking their systems."
Secondly you've omitted every single detail on how the navy seals will "disable their nuclear arsenal."
Third you failed to provide a strategy on how to eliminate any possible causalities of war during an attack on the demilitarized zone.
Fourth you failed to mention how you would prevent information on the attack on the demilitarized zone from going up the north korean chain of command, which could launch another attack.
Fifth you failed to mention what exactly the US would do after taking over the demilitarized zone ("US steamroll" is a bit ambiguous no?)
