National holidays are a drain on economy efficiency because they remove one day out of a 365-day year where people could be working. It's a valid problem, which is why I think the easiest solution is this:Remove Columbus Day (a celebration of a genocidal terrorist that cut off kids' hands for gold) and replace it with Election Patriotism Day, which only really comes a month later than Columbus Day would anyway. Then, the economy isn't damaged and we can all continue to celebrate a holiday after everyone votes by eating barbecue or some stuff.
it's part of voter suppressionall the people who can't get out of work to vote, you can rest assured they're not salaried, middle-class workers
i never really got why colombus day of all things is a national holiday
It's celebrating the guy who 'discovered America' (after the Vikings and the people who already lived there, of course)
no stuff but still, of all things, it's just a dude who sailed across the ocean. all things considered there's nothing substantial about it apart from symbolismit's just a day off, nobody goes out and does things on colombus day
The criticisms of Columbus Day are usually valid up until someone says "white guy", then I kind of just tune them out. It bothers me that I do this but it's almost reflexive at this point.
as opposed to the chronic and unending crises of socialism
Can we all just stop responding to this guy? We all know he's full of stuff, his opinions are full of stuff, socialism is full of stuff, and he's so handicapped no one can tell if he's really trolling or not.
Try actually coming up with a counter-argument, dumbass.
Why?
odds on kimon following an 'edgy memes for socialist teens' page on facebook?
